Virus called AntiSpySpider is on wife's PC, can't get rid of it, don't want to format.
Please help?

The good news is that it is a reasonably harmless virus, which is put there to popup crap "saying" you have a virus and that you can fix it by buying a product called ... wait for it ... AntiSpySpider. The link I sent you has suggestions for getting rid of it.

Good news DB, similar thing happened to some of my friends. We went to RUN / MSCONFIG in the Sartup Tab. Found the program and disabled it. If you can't find it let me know and I will try to help you identify it.

I miss the old days of JSspawn viruses etc.... hundreds of windows popping open... actually moving around the screen with little pictures of teradactyles flying around... freaky stuff 
Just a hard boot, and a short hop to trend micros free scan page if you couldn't get to runnin' your AV software. I bet Avast would have blocked that one
