I think I fixed it. I uninstalled Google Desktop, which I guess was slowing it down. Uninstalled it and my web browsers seem to be opening up instantly

I was using comodo firewall until it corrupted itself and died... so I went back to zone alarm 8.0.
I have an issue with Firefox as well. Maybe its because of the add-ons I am using like adblock and piclens.
Trying googling firetune, use it and see if it helps any.

I don't think I uninstalled Google Desktop correctly. I used Revo, but the program's built in uninstaller didn't open. I ended up skipping it and going straight to deleting all the registry files. I then went to go delete some more files, but they had a message saying, do no delete/move these files or may shut down system, use built in uninstaller. Well I was like....ughhhh I already tried. Since I had no other options, I just deleted them. And my computer froze, so I did a hard restart. Now its working, but start-up of the computer is a little slower now. There might be more other little problems I haven't noticed yet.

Set up Revo to monitor installs, then reinstall Google Deskflop and use Revo to uninstall it. That should clean it up.

I don't have it installed at the moment, but I know it will do it. Check the "help" or hit their home page for an FAQ.

Google toolbar, yahoo toolbar, and all the others are a waste of resources, and will ALWAYS slow down an otherwise good PC... I keep finding them installed on my wife and stepdaughter's computers, since both are too lazy to uncheck the autoinstall of them with other software... And yet they're both quick to gripe when their computers start slowing down... Go figure...
