Well our game design program here at the college is starting to get legs. One of the first classes was Python programming. It was fun, but went slowly as we had a few non-programmers in the class. While some might think this would be a problem, it was quite refreshing to see solutions that they came up with that I would never have thought of. In the end the final projects were simple, but showed a lot of creativity and promise. Mine wasn't very creative, but was a blast to write. A clone of Atari's breakout.

The reason for posting this: A commodore 64 was just donated to the college with all of the peripherals. Tape drive, disk drive, commodore brand monitor, original mouse, as well as a bunch of old games. Man did that bring back memories. In the age where we think of awesome gaming as only capable at the 3+ ghz, tons of memory, and a 500.00 graphics card, it is nice to remember where it all started for me. A 640 x 480 screen, 16 or 24 colors ( I can't remember), pixels the size of quarters, playing "Bard's tale" or similar games for hours straight. "Sprites were the BOMB"

When I complete the move into the new house, I will have to fire up my old C64 for some "good old games" Man, I'm getting old. Very Happy

Dude I still have mine somewhere. I loved that thing. I played Ultima 1 - 6 on the C64. Also, I collect old Atari 2600 stuff. I don't have anything fancy though. I still play a lot on the 80s arcade games on MAME and Xbox360. Ultimately, I would love to own a coin operated Donkey Kong machine.

BTW, did you ever play Jumpman? That game was awesome.

OMG the Bard's Tale games were awesome. I had a Koala Pad for mine (a graphic pad basically) and a Kovox voice recognition box. It was cheap but it worked! I even had a Okimate thermal color printer. The ribbons were a "use once" type and expensive. I even had a 300k baud modem...LOL! I was a member of a hacker group as well... Rolling Eyes Laughing . Back in those days, we would buy a game at Service Merchadise, take it home and copy it, take it back and get another game. Repeat until they caught on and then went back when they got different people on staff. Laughing I also remember spending countless hours typing in code from Ahoy! magazine for a karate tournament game, when my sister started up her hair dryer in the bathroom next to my room and my C64 rebooted! Evil or Very Mad Made her type it in! Laughing
