Shadowrun-Xbox 360 |

|
I bought this game a couple days ago for 60$. Now, some of you may think this game stinks because it has no story mode. But after 2-3 rounds of playing online, you'll see why it doesn't need a story mode! The online play probably rivals server 3 in fun-ness (is that a word?), speed, and amount of players. There are 4 races(all with pros and cons), 9 weapons to choose from, tons of maps, different game types (raid, extraction, attrition) that I will explain later. It is round-based, first to 6 wins (sorta like Counter Strike) and has a buy menu (buy weapons, magic, tech, and help teammates out with money--will explain below). I'll start explaining stuff:
Weapons:
SMG--your automatic weapon, short to mid range
Rifle--semi-auto, mid to long range
Shotgun--short range, packs a punch
Mini-gun--huge automatic weapon, takes 1-2 seconds to power it up
Sniper Rifle--headshots=insta-kill (or almost, in the case of Dwarves)
Rocket Launcher--blow everything out of the way
Pistol--basic weapon, you always have one (unless you drop it for a different weapon)
Katana--slice 'em up!, can cause bleeding if it hits an unsuspecting enemy
Grenade--blow 'em to bits, good for taking down multiple enemies
Races:
Human--doesn't reserve essence for tech, it's an average character
Elves--fastest race, also has health regen while not taking damage, more of a hit-and-run type
Trolls--it's like a tank, can take mucho damage, has protective spikes, doesn't slow down while carrying heavy weapons (all other races have speed penalties)
Dwarves--smallest, hardest to hit, most essence, steals essence from enemies and allies, doesn't die from a headshot from a sniper rifle
Magic:
Tree of Life--healing
Resurrect--bring dead allies back to life
Teleport--go through walls, floors, roofs
Strangle--bring up shards to halt enemy movement
Gust--blow back enemies, also kills whoever uses smoke
Smoke--take no damage (aside from gust), your essence depletes while you have it active
Minions--summon a minion to fight for your team, can patrol an area or target lock onto an enemy, basically a troll with no weapons
*Maintaining Resurrect, Minions, and Strangle take up essence.
Tech:
Glider--fly away from enemies, scan the area, hop from roof to roof
Enhanced Vision--for 5 seconds, you can see enemies through objects
Wired Reflexes--most faster, shoot faster, reload faster, block bullets when not attacking with a katana (some still get through), can use it for a speed boost but you take damage
Smartlink--adds an extra zoom to every weapon, target locks, weapons do more damage, weapons reload faster
Anti-magic Generator--drain everyone's essence!, ideal to put near a group of enemies, and also near trolls (no essence=no extra defence, easier to kill)
*Essence is required for magic, and must be reserved for tech.
*You can only have a total of 3 magic/tech abilities equipped at once, but you can buy as many as your money allows.
*Have extra money? Donate it to teammates! You need your teammates as much as they need you--the game really focuses on teamwork.*
Game Types:
Raid--Lineage tries to get the artifact to the extraction point, RNA defenders the artifact and extraction point. Killing all of the opposing team will also win the round.
Extraction--Both Lineage and RNA try to escape with the artifact. Extraction points are at the opposing team's spawn.
Attrition--Kill all of the opposing team. Grabbing the artifact will only benefit your team by showing where the enemies are. You must kill all of the opposing team to win.
*While carrying the artifact, you cannot use magic, tech, or grenades. You can use the artifact like a katana (swipe it at enemies).
FINAL RATING:9/10
While the game has no story mode, the online play makes up for it greatly. I recommend renting the game first (if you like FPS games) and then buying it...Because you may not like the fast-ness of the gameplay. If the game had a story mode, it would definitely have a 9.5 or a 10.

I thought this might be a decent game...
I think Gamespot gave it a 6 out of 10.

Sorry for the bump/late reply, I was on vacation...
@mos- G-Spot doesn't understand how fun it is...Like I said, most people flip out over have no story mode.
@Cyber- I'm not sure, I haven't heard of it.
@ren- It's Vista-only for PC, they also play with Xbox 360 players.
@Knight- To prevent cheating(to my knowledge) they select a host...so you'd have to hack the hosts PC or 360...so it's not really worth the effort.
Plus you can beat cheaters, all the cheaters on Halo2 always get pwnd--cheating won't help.

Munky, not really "cheating" but super jumping, lagging, ect. is considered glitching/cheating.

Yeah, I know what you're talking about, but there are still a lot of cheats out there with super speed and stuff. Also, it only takes one decent sniper top super jump out of the level and destroy the opposing team. That's the main reason I quit playing the game.
