It's simple--don't get Hd, just get the regular DVD. No point in shelling out 500$ for a PS3 just for Blu Ray.

I honestly don't care about the video quality getting any better than a standard dvd9. I only want the hd disks so I can back up 50 gigs of data.

Have you gotten the chance to compare HD quality DVD's to standard? Standard DVD's look like garbage to me now. Sad It cucks because I have a large collection of standard DVD's that I just can't watch. Evil or Very Mad

I've seen both side by side, the same movie, and I don't really care which I watch--except for a few movies. The Departed, Boondock Saints, 300, those awesome movies, I'll only watch in HD. But I already own them in HD, so it doesn't matter much to me.

There was talk that Fox was getting ready to switch to HD-DVD only and getting ready to drag WB with them but Sony put $500 million on the tabe and got them both to stay Blu-Ray only for 1 year.

Now it's just a game to see how long HD-DVD can hold out.

Agreed. I can't stand standard DVDs. I've had the Toshiba for about a year, and there is a huge difference between HD and standard.

Hmmm, I disagree. A good TV will really show the difference between standard and HD.

I have three Sony XBRs. And with my Toshiba HD player you can still see the differences in a big way.
