Why a platoon? Just one pissed off jarhead will end it all. Look at Aswald and Charles Witman. They are perfect examples what a motivated Marine is capable of.

True, although I believe that Aswald was not guilty... But at any rate, why just send 1??? That person will be looked upon as a "bad" person (misunderstood for you liberals)... But a full platoon in dress uniform might tend to shut the crowd of pinko's up... But if nothing else, it would be an impressive as hell display...

Think about it what looks better on national tv? A platoon of 30 Marines kicking the crap out of leftist pinkos or just one highly motivated Marine kicking the crap out of the leftist pinko schmuks? Explain how just one Marine OWNED their butts at their next communist rally.

Send them mail. Let them know Americans are still here, and they will not win.

Gotta love weak pinko commies. They are folding like lawn chairs.
BERKELEY - Two Berkeley City Council members want the city to rescind a declaration that says the U.S. Marines' recruiting center is not welcome in Berkeley.
Council members Betty Olds and Lauri Capitelli have proposed backing off the anti-Marines declaration and publicly declaring that Berkeley opposes the war in Iraq but supports the troops.
The controversy erupted last week after the City Council passed an item condemning the Marines' downtown recruiting center. The declaration angered right-wing groups and prompted a Republican senator to try to cut off federal funding for Berkeley.
The City Council will vote on the new proposals next week.

They obviously have the strength of their convictions
Against the war, but support the troops. Isn't that akin to watching a football game and saying that you hate the violence of the sport, but you support the players who are on the field?!
Leftist idiots!

Your right Recon it ticked me off. Here is a press release from the mayor. Can you say oops. The mayor and the council should go to Cuba since the love code pink so much and stay there. They arnt protecting anyones rights(except their own views). And by the way DUH, where do they think a military recruiting station should be? Close to a senior citizen home. One more thing being prior military, our military should let these morons get them down and just keep doing the great job they are doing and hang in there. They are making a difference in many different ways
Statement from Mayor Tom Bates on the Berkeley Marine Recruiting Center
I have heard from people all over the country regarding the action taken by the Berkeley City Council regarding the Marines recruiting center.
Let me be absolutely clear that this is not about the men and women who are serving our country in our armed forces. I am a retired U.S. Army Captain and I respect the choice of those who are serving our country.
However, this community strongly opposes the war in Iraq and the foreign policy of the current administration. I believed from the beginning that this was an unjust, illegal, and immoral war of choice.
A year ago, the U.S. Marines established a recruiting office within a few blocks of our local high school, community college and university. Since then, community members who oppose the war in Iraq have been exercising their free speech in protesting the presence of the Marine recruiters. Pro-war protestors have also attended to exercise their free speech rights.
On January 28th, the Berkeley City Council took action to waive the permit fee for anti-war protestors one afternoon a week. Any group, whether pro- or anti- war, can obtain such a permit. In addition, the City Council indicated its desire for the Marine recruiting station, as a visible symbol of the war, to be relocated.
I understand that there are people across the country that may not agree with this action but it is the Berkeley City Council's responsibility to represent the will of the people of Berkeley.
I also understand that the language proposed to the Council did not adequately differentiate our respect and support for those serving in the armed forced and our opposition to the Iraq war policy. I will be working with the Council to clarify that language at our next meeting.
I hope that our country will end the war in Iraq soon and bring our troops home safely. We are truly fortunate to live in a country that can tolerate and accept a range of views and opinions.

Synic, you bring up an interesting point. Against the War but for the troops. Believe it or not I am one of those. The war in Iraq and Afghanistan is totally unnecessary. The Iraqis dont want us there and dont give a crap about freedom. Afghanistan, well just ask the Russians about that.
Just nuke them and walk away. I like fuel cell cars better anyway.
Oh by the way just thought I would share http://www.newsweek.com/id/107576

RM, Maybe my ultimate point is getting lost somewhere in the translation. Going to Iraq, or anywhere else, to free oppressed peoples is not our responsibility nor should it be.
The point I was trying to make was to exhibit the duplicity of those who support a democrat's war and not a republican's war (and they know who they are). War should not be entered into lightly, but if it is entered into it should be to win, win as quickly as possible, and win completely and thoroughly. No political correctness, no apologizing, no worrying if there is some unintentional collateral damage, no concern about what our media or the left thinks; just turn loose the fires of hell on the enemy and when done we dictate the terms of peace.
WE ARE AT WAR! And we have been for many years now. Sadly it took 9/11 to wake up the majority of the American sheep..uh, people and make them aware that there are those who wish to destroy us. I DON'T CARE WHY THEY WANT TO DESTROY US, ONLY THAT THEY DO! Thus we are faced with a choice, sit back and wait or take out the threat before it can be brought to us. If we don't fight this war now, our children will surely have to fight it later.
I suppose the question then becomes, "How best to fight this war?" Given the firepower we can unleash on an enemy perhaps there is little need for troops "on the ground" in many places. Fine, then we need someone in a leadership position that will unapologetically loose that firepower upon our enemies. make it clear, through our foreign policy, that we wish no one harm, we hope to trade with and get along with all nations, but if you threaten us, especially if you attempt to act upon those threats, we will utterly and without remorse destroy you and your ability to make war upon us. I just don't see that type of resolve anywhere in our nation's leadership right now. Hell, I don't see that kind of resolve in the majority of the American people. We are so concerned about being liked by everyone that we refuse to acknowledge a real threat, even when it slaps us right across the face. We continue to send our troops into the field, allow them to reach a certain point in our military efforts and then turn them into policemen. BAH!
Enough of the political correctness bullshit! Teddy Roosevelt said it best, "Speak softly and carry a big stick!" I do not wish to see our nation or its military as a bully, but I do not wish to see us bend over and grab our ankles every time someone issues a threat against us, whether those threats are domestic or foreign. Frankly, I fear the terrorists less than I do the suits in our own government. The constant trek toward a socialist/communist government, run by an elite few, is undeniable. Combine that with the apathy and ignorance of our populace and you have a recipe for disaster that may see the end of the United States in our children's lifetime.
Now, if you will excuse me, I'm going to go sit in the jacuzzi for awhile and try to decompress.

Now your talking Cynic. The only problem is after Vietnam we now expect to see everything on our TV's. Im sorry but reporters do not belong with the troops. You want to know whats going on ask a Soldier or an Airman or a Marine or a Salor that is over there. Other than that you dont need to know. War is not John Wayne storming Normandy. Its not James Cagne flying a biplane and saving untold lives. War is disgusting. It is cold, it is brutal and it is dark. Its a hell that no one should ever have to see and for those that have it changes them forever. If you want to save people and promote freedom shut off the cameras and let the men and women in uniform do their jobs. Then welcome them home and help them forget when they just lived through.
