4gb memory question

Newegg has my memory on sale, so I picked up another 2gb (4 total now). I am running XP Pro, so my question is wether or not it will recognize the full amount.

If its the 64-bit version then yes, if only the x86(32-bit) then only about 3.5GB. Here's a discussion regarding OS http://www.uzaclan.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=7037

Thanks Spinner. Not ready to upgrade the OS, so I will have to due with the 3.5gb.

So the memory showed up, stuck them in with great anticipation, powered it up....(sure seamed a lot faster).......and low and behold..........
2.75gb of memory listed. What, say it aint so.

So I did a little Google on it and found out that the computer takes into account the video card memory (in my case 768 mb). So its 3.5 minus 768.
