I still like the top one, just something about the render.... can't put my finger on it .... As far as the second one...the background bleeds thru the render too much, instead of changing the layer style to linear burn (or whatever you have it at), monotone the layer that give it a blue/gray hue change to make it match better.  Just my $.02
