Another new rifles team? where do i sign?
Thanks for suggestions, 1 question I know little about comps and monitors but would going for something of 2 ms response time be worth it over 5 ms? seems like a bigger leap compared to past changes in response times but how would it really affect playing?

response time has to do with ghosting. So if a huge explosion or something very intense on your monitor or watching someone run across your screen in cod 2 and seeing trails of them. However 2 ms or 5 ms is so not noticable its incredible. Most likely prices on a 2 ms are higher than the 5.
As I said I have the 2nd one, and I exsperience no ghosting.

Well, the higher the resolution you go the more demanding on your computer. Sooo if your frames are already low or inconsistant it would help. But know that if you do a big step up, that you will need to upgrade CPU, and RAM to prevent bottle necking. Hit me up on X-fire.

if you get a flatty, you are going to need a DVI cable. your video card should be DVI capable. The switch from CRT to DVI will actually get you better performance, so bumping up the resolution doesnt negatively impact you quite as much as going up in size and resolution on another CRT. if you are going to invest in a new monitor, you might as well get a good one with the size and capabilities you are looking for, i.e., wide-screen, bright colors, dark blacks, low ms response, and high contrast ratio.
and don;t forget to run the optimizer if you are running WinXP, otherwise your picture will be fuzzy.
