|
Ok, now I am thoroughly getting ticked off...my computer is broke down again after replacing my power supply...this time i keep getting a blue screen saying" imminent error, windows has shut down to prevent any damage from happening" and according to the error, my brother says it is the hard drive. Now when I boot up, my computer is going into the BIOS and trying to reconfigure my BIOS....UGH!! I try to go into safe mode so I can save my stuff, but it isn't letting me....i will hopefully get this fixed, but I have no idea how long it is going to be....
HELP?!!!!!!

Try replacing the harddrive with another and reinstall the operating system. If it then works fine, try adding your first harddrive as a secondary harddrive. If that works, pull everything you want to save off of the original drive and then format it and run scan disc. This will let you know if it really is the harddrive. You may have a bad drive, virus, or corrupt files on the drive. Or if it's okay, just leave PC as is and format, scan disc, reinstall operating system on original harddrive. This would be my choice, but you may have needed files on the disc.
To diagnose a PC problem, I always start with removing everything but the basic components of the pc. Remove sound cards, modems, unplug printers, ect... When I think I know which component is the problem child, I swap it with a used part to see if it is corrected. Of course I have the luxury of haveing a basement full of spare pc parts. You could always ask your friends if you could borrow some parts. My next step would be to format harddrive and start over.
Always back important items up! You never know when a harddrive is going to die. Using harddrive coolers is also a good practice. I use heat sinks with dual ball bearing fans on all harddrives. Heat is the number one destroyer of drives.
Others may give you different advise, but these are the steps I always use. Good Luck!
