You know something that is almost the God's honet truth!
Everyone is so scared for saying or doing anything for fear of getting sued!
My oldest son struggles in school and the best the teacher's could come up with to help was....have his brother help him remember what his homework is! Yeah that will work.
Then a week later one of his teacher's called my wife and work saying that he did not come to class prepared...he didn't have a pencil. Well good grief, give him a pencil and get on with teaching class, but NOOOOOO waste time calling my wife at work and disrupting her to say he doesn't have a pencil.
And we wonder why a majority of kids today are clueless!

I know what you mean by the whole pencil thing. I've seen student after student receive a zero on a big test because they forgot a pencil or a sheet of paper.
Don't even get me started on the ACT I took the other day.

Pitthunter, what you wrote is so true! I myself was born in the early 60-ies, and when I did something wrong my dad was very good in letting me know that I did something wrong . He did not need some weird psychologist! You see where it brought me? Spamming the forums on uzaclan.net ...lol... ...just kidding.
I still thank my dad he straightened me out when I was a pain in the @$$! I did learn the importance of values and respect!
As MrGr1mm was saying: "times have changed", but the way I feel it, certainly not for the better!!!

Amok - same here. I was born in '60, and when we were bad an attitude adjustment was delivered. Swift, to the point, and painful. I survived and so did my friends.

I think Shakespeare said it best, "Let's kill all the lawyers and start over."
That's a huge part of the equation. Political Correctness, combined with a litigious society (brought on by dirtbag lawyers - but I repeat myself), and a serious lack of moral values by too many people in our culture, has led us down the road to ruin. I mean let's face it, there are more people concerned about Paris Hilton's jail time than about our southern border. WHAT THE F***!!!
I remember when I was in elementary school, if you got "out-of-hand" in class the teacher would whack you with a ruler (not a Catholic school, either), then send you to the principal, who would, if the situation warranted, take a paddle to your backside. Then when you got home mom and dad had a shot at you, because the school had called them about your behavior. My wife teaches kindergarten (over 25 years now) and she cannot touch the little urchins, no matter what they do, AND THE KIDS KNOW IT!! She has had 5 year olds cuss her out knowing that the worst that will happen is that they will be sent to the principal. The principal will simply call the parents to advise them or ask them to come pick up "little Johnny." Of course the chances are that the parents are a**holes themselves and simply won't hear that their little angel would do such a thing. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! Will the madness ever end?!
Do any of you wonder why I constantly opine that I weep for our nation?
*hyperventilating* I swear to you, guys, its like we are stuck in an episode of the Twilight Zone. Things have become so surreal that you wonder if you're just dreaming and will soon wake up to find that it all never really happened. It's a wonder more of us haven't gone absolutely insane.
Now if you'll excuse me, I must go see my lawyer about suing my parents. They didn't hug me enough when I was growing up and as a result I spend too much time on my computer trying to cultivate meaningful relationships.
Hold me!

You turned out OK Hogan - as did I. Perhaps it's time to bring back some of the "old school" ways.

I have just decided to have all my family members wear bicycle safety helmets and pads both outdoors and indoors at all times of the day. With the amount of potential accidents we can get into you can never be too safe in this day and age!
