Try this for your mobo
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813188016
I have the BFG model of this same mobo and so far have been satisfied. This mobo is designed specifically by Nvidia. BFG, EVGA, XFX, FOXCONN just build it and support it.
As for the video card, most (not all) of the reviews I've been reading have said the 8600GTS models are better than 7900GS and just below or at the level of the 7950's. They also suggest if you already have a 7900GS or an ATI 1950, that you probably shouldn't upgrade, but for NEW builds definitely something to consider. Mainly because it's good enough for the current top of the line DX9, is ready for DX10 games that will start to come out later this year.
So if you're planning on forking over some more money for a DX10 card sometime in the next year, I would just go ahead with the 8600GTS. I personally will be getting the XFX 8600GTS XXX model sometime in the next couple of weeks. I've been waiting many months for my current build and I'm getting to the point I can't wait any longer.
As of right now they are hanging around the $195 to $230 range. Yes, $60 to $80 more than what you chose, so it depends on your budget. Depending on when you are purchasing this stuff, they should go down in price. This of course depends on when ATI get's their cards out. When that happens it'll be really good for us consumers, with their little price war.
That's just my suggestion.

agreed... the 590 mobo with sli capability is the way to go, so if you get a little more cash you can drop in another vid card for a huge performance boost.

Thanks but I dont even know if I am going to be getting into the DX10 games. I might just take it slow. Gradually build up ya know? and yes I do have a verry tight budget...

I was just reading over some of the reviews for some of the stuff, and it looks like one guy had a problem putting in a different power supply in that case. From what it sounds like it might be a non-standard short power supply. I noticed you were going to buy a better power supply. You might see if you can get the dimensions on the case and power supply. The new one might not fit because of the "blow hole" on top. You might want to go back and read some of the pros and cons of what people that bought it said. Don't take everything for truth but the power supply issue one guy mentioned might be a problem for ya. Good luck!

Computer parts |
|
|
I have always used Asus mother boards, cd-roms, cd-burners, dvd-roms, and dvd-burners. I have never had one go bad or give me any issues.
Scroll thru my posts at:
http://www.uzaclan.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5474&highlight=
You will see some of my builds that have ASUS parts.
I like Corsair XMS and GeIL Ultra ram.
I'm also a big fan of the high powered Thermaltake Power Supplies.
Nvidia SLI is awsome.
There are lots of choices in all parts. Try to go with the reliable brands and mid to top of the line parts. The trick is to find parts that work well together.
For my current setup, I actually tried several of the top end rams. After several benchmarks with each ram I went with Corsair. The highest score I got was with OCZ. Corsair had the highest average and was always very consistent in it's score. Granted, I had the luxury of testing several brands for my setup. I would always suggest a highend brand and not worry about the absolute best running system. In six months it won't matter anyways.

Just remember this..."You get what you pay for." If it is cheap, quality is cheap (unless they have it on sale ). I am concerned about the case not taking a standard power supply. Sometimes those "modded" cases don't always take standard parts, so be careful.

oh man. Finally it is up and running, after all the crap i've been through. Just recently paid $60 for geek squad at best buy to tell me that My psu was fried and so was my motherboard. And this is after me finally replacing the other fried motherboard. Them my bro took the computer to a friends house and his friend works for the government with computer. I find out that the reason I cant get it running is becuase the power button was messed up or broken so they had to re-wire it and now it runs so smooth. Getting about 200-250 fps in game becuase I cap at 250. and its just so amazing.
