I was wondering how player stats are kept associated with a particular player?

I have heard a few things including the following:

Key Code
IP Address
Name
MAC

I am just wondering, because looking at the stats page, I now see 2 "Innocent" names.

I was wondering if this was because my work computer and my home computer stats are some how kept separately?

If so how does it keep the 2 separate? What are the variables used, just wondering.

The stats are based completely on your GUID, which is a unique number that is assigned to the particular copy of your game. If you have a copy at home and another somewhere else, they are (presumably) different copies of the game and will have separate GUID's. This does mean that if you happen to play at a friend's house on his computer, another set of stats will be started even though you use the name "innocent" both places.

We had an older version of stats a couple of years ago which were based on name, but the downside was that if you changed your name for some reason there was a hideous manual process to merge the two sets of stats.

Hope this helps,

Eagle

Ok, I was just wondering.

I have 1 copy of the game. I use the same copy at home and at work. I am never playing both at the same time because no one else at home plays the game, and at work they bought their own copy. Also I know the way the game is made that you cannot play the game on 2 computers at the same time on the Internet.

Hmm,

I will try to keep track of my kills today at work and at home and see if they change accordingly together or separate.

I will report my findings tomorrow!

Thanks

So this is weird!

Same key code, different computers, and my stats are be tracked separately.

I wonder......

So just to check everything out, I renamed my work name to Innocent2, and sure enough it is keeping a separate statistic. Such as the following:

Innocent 57,146 52,116 1.0965 1,242 734 20,664 7,827 7 7,076 3,406 206 418 159 24,472

Innocent2 10,898 12,519 0.8705 312 266 2,826 1,526 32 975 90 54 337 339 5,965

Oh well, I just thought I'd bring it up, no big deal if it can't be followed through with, just thought I'd share the info.

My work computer sucks and so does its statistics. Razz We can keep them separate Wink Its just a game, have fun Smile

That's messed up because mine are all kept under Killer86 and I play at school during the school year and at home during the summer and those are 2 separate IPs but my stats are all kept as one.

Hmm,

So maybe I am a partially mistaken hacker.

I was using another CD Key. I think it was back when I first started playing the game when we would play on a LAN connection and using someone else's CD Key.

Since then to play on the internet I bought my own copy of the game.

Well this morning I checked my CD Key and noticed it was different. So I will put this CD key in at work and see if this makes a difference.

So it must be me:) The Innocent Hacker Smile

I'll update this post tomorrow:)

Thanks for the time and input.
