From the internet:

How To Devastate PvE With PvE-Only Skills
-by Zingeri (IGN Syria Blackblood)

Most of the effects of the PvE-Only skills on PvE and Hard Mode have been mostly theorycraft, due to the newness of the update.

Therefore, I’ve taken the liberty of designing several such builds which abuse such skills in order to allow people, and hopefully ArenaNet to visualize how powerful these skills are, and the importance of carefully balancing them.

(And to those who like the skills as is, these builds provide an effective starting block for “the new PvE”)

Warrior:

W/A

16 Swordsmanship
13 Strength

Dragon Slash (e)
Whirlwind Attack (Warrior Sunspear Skill)
“Save Yourself!” (Warrior Faction Skill)
Critical Agility (Assassin Sunspear Skill)
Malicious Strike
Distracting Blow
“For Great Justice!”
Res

The Adrenaline from Whirlwind Attack fuels Dragon Slash and visa versa, thus allowing for a near-infinite chain of spamming (while spamming “Save Yourself!” indefinitely). And, of course, at a 33% increased attack speed. Distracting Blow and “For Great Justice” allows for quick initial Adrenaline gain, and Malicious Strike can be used to keep Critical Agility up if needed (use a Hero for the condition).

Ranger:

R/W

16 Marksmanship
13 Expertise
4 Beast Mastery

Barrage (e)
Savage Shot
Distracting Shot
“Save Yourself!” (Warrior Faction Skill)
Never Rampage Alone (Ranger Sunspear Skill)
Charm Animal
Comfort Animal
Res

This is admittingly one of the weaker builds here, as Rangers got royally shafted skill-wise. The Barrage spam with the IAS should help repeatedly charge “Save Yourself!” The pet…well…it makes a good tank, especially with the health regeneration granted by Never Rampage Alone.

Elementalist:

E/P

16 Fire Magic
13 Energy Storage

Searing Flames (e)
Glowing Gaze
Glyph of Elemental Power
Intensity (Elementalist Sunspear Skill)
Elemental Lord (Elementalist Faction Skill)
“There’s Nothing To Fear!” (Paragon Sunspear Skill)
Fire Attunement
Res

This build is self-explanatory. This build is insanity and perhaps the clearest reason why the PvE skills need reevaluation.

Mesmer:

Me/N

16 Fast Casting (yes, that’s right)
13 Inspiration Magic (that’s also right)

Mantra of Recovery (e)
Cry of Pain (Mesmer Sunspear Skill)
Ether Nightmare (Mesmer Factions Skill)
Necrosis (Necromancer Sunspear Skill)
Spirit of Failure
Power Drain
Energy Tap
Res

Use Mantra of Recovery, Spam Necrosis (with a .48s cast and a 1s recharge), keep spamming it for 60-70 armor ignoring damage along with your other spells, use Energy Management, repeat. It’s a Machine Gun of doom!

Monk:

No good Monk build by itself with PvE-only skills; but cast Seed of Life (Monk Sunspear Skill) on a tank or bonder. Casting it on a tank will cause massive heals; casting it on a bonder causes unlimited heals (as anytime the bonder absorbs damage, it counts as “damage.”)

Necromancer

No good Necromancer build by itself with PvE-only Skills; the Necromancer skills are only OK by themselves (Necrosis is better in the aforementioned Mesmer build and Signet of Corruption sucks compared to Signet of Lost Souls). However, Necromancers have access to Spiteful Spirit, which is debatably more powerful than any of these PvE-only skills.

(Unfortunately, Spiteful Spirit isn’t affected by Intensity, and spamming Necrosis under Intensity is too Energy-intensive for a Necromancer.)

Assassin

A/W

16 Dagger Mastery
13 Critical Strikes

Locust’s Fury (e)
Critical Agility (Assassin Sunspear Skill)
Whirlwind Attack (Warrior Sunspear Skill)
“Save Yourself!” (Warrior Faction Skill)
Critical Eye
Golden Phoenix Strike
Death Blossom
Res

Same idea as the Warrior build, although this build can consistently keep Critical Agility up. It’s a bit weaker…but is there any difference between a god and a demigod?

Ritualist

Rt/E

16 Channeling Magic
13 Spawning Power

Destructive was Glaive (e)
Intensity (Elementalist Sunspear Skill)
Ancestor’s Rage
Spirit Rift
Bloodsong
Vampirism (Ritualist Sunspear Skill)
Glyph of Lesser Energy
Res

Like how the Assassin build is to the Warrior build, this Ritualist build is to the Elementalist build (how ironic), Intensity buffs Destructive Was Glaive to absurd levels. Having two Spirits also helps in assisted, gradual damage.

Dervish

D/A

16 Scythe Mastery
13 Mysticism

Avatar of Lyssa (e)
Eternal Aura (Dervish Sunspear Skill)
Aura of Holy Might (Dervish Faction Skill)
Critical Agility (Assassin Sunspear Skill)
Eremite’s Attack
Mystic Sweep
Malicious Strike
Res

Oh baby, this is God Mode. The bonus damage from both the Avatar and the attack skill I believe, is multiplied by the increase from Aura of Holy Might. So, that’s about 150+ AoE damage on casters. For each attack skill. It’s a one-man near-instant kill.

Paragon

P/W

14 Leadership
12 Axe Mastery
9 Command

Focused Anger (e)
“They’re on Fire!”
“There’s Nothing To Fear!” (Paragon Sunspear Skill)
“Go for the Eyes!”
Cyclone Axe
Whirling Attack (Warrior Sunspear Skill)
“Save Yourself!” (Warrior Faction Skill)
Res

It’s the ToF Tank, revitalized! Cyclone Axe + Focused Anger = everything is charged. Tons and tons of Damage Prevention from this build. This build will stop people from deleting their Paragons! (In order to proc “They’re on Fire,” bring 2 SF Ele Heroes.)

I know I have not been playing for awhile, but did they add some new skills because some of the skills that he posted I never even heard of. Like Intensity, save yourself, elemental lord and a few others. Can anyone shed some light on this. Very Happy

Yes, they added some "PvE Only" skills. there are two for each profession. One is tied to your rank in the Sunspear title, and the other is tied to the amount of Faction you have somehow. The are VERY strong skills, with the intent by ANet to have some good skills for PvE that won't ever be nerfed due to balance issues in PvP.
