I visited the crash site of flight 93 for the first time today - it's roughly a 2 hour drive from Pittsburgh. It was a very somber experience. At the site it was very quiet, with only the buzz of insects breaking the silence. You drive down a lonely country road, and as you crest over a hill, there it is:

This small hut welcomes some 125,000 visitors a year.

The sheer number of articles left behind by visitors from all over the world is amazing. Small items are everywhere, and every available space covered with handwritten notes.

The American flag in the field marks ground zero. The plane came in from the right about 70 feet in the air, at a 30 degree angle, going 540 MPH. There wasn't much left:

The lady with her back to the camera is an employee of the park service. She gives talks and answers questions about that fateful day. On the benches are the names of the people that went in with flight 93:
