For the DX10 games that are coming out later this year?

If so what are you thinking about purchasing?

Yeah, One of those fancy dancy AMD quad cores that are coming out in the fall and a 8800gtx.... oh wait, I just bought the house formally known as the "money pit". Doh!

I'll probably grab a 320 or 640 mb 8800gts and try to limp along with my 3700+ oc'd to 4000+ speed. The highest res that I game at is 1440x900 so the gtx would just be overkill.

Unless I buy the boat that I am going to look at tonight... if that happens, I'll be eating mac-n-cheese and ramen noodles if I'm lucky for the next 10 months.

my next upgrade will be when multi socket, multi-core cpu's come out, and adding full liquid cooling to both 8800GTXs.

it would shock you how fast the PC is now. 5.9 on the Vista Base Score... which is the current maximum... without overclocking. MS has said as new tech becomes more prevalent, they will add more numbers to the Base Score, so hopefully, I'll still peg the needle, then, too. Razz

Yes. I'll be upgrading in the next month- or so.

Vista Ultimate x64
Core 2 Duo 6600
8800 GTS 640
4 Gigs RAM

That will likely be the basis.

I'm going to upgrade my power supply because it's about to go out, and I'm going to upgrade to an 8800GTX. After a few months with this set up, I'm going to start saving up for a new processor.

the only upgrade will be two new fans in my case .
since i removed the side panel my temps are okay , but i don't wanna see my cat playing with the fans .
i have a standard case .... never bothered me in the past , but the air flow isn't great !

and i'll replace my 3800+ next week for a FX57 (no major upgrade , but it's a cheap little upgrade)

a new system will have to wait another year .

I think the only upgrade I've planned for is an Os from xp pro to Vista and the vid cards to 8800 's from the 7950' I currently have.

Not just yet, they have hacked the vista only games (halo 2 and shadowrun) Both will run in xp and run very well. The other development is dx10 for xp. I will keep you posted on this one. Wink

AM2 amd socket platform, abit fatality sli nvidia 590 board, xfx 8600GT OC Fanless cards, awaiting more cpu options... maybe some gskill dual channel ram.. 3 gigs needed now.. I heard going max actually could decrease some performance.

I don't think now is a good time to build though. Prices and options.

Currently will crank the most out of my socket 939 3700+ amd, 1 gig xms ram, 6800GT... gonna wait and keep the above on my wishlist.

Keeping XP Pro... cant stand Vista...

Plus there is word of even a new windows 7.0 version... supposedly Vista is still at 6.0..? Confused

If Vista uses more resources... why use it I say.

Ran Bioshock just fine with my current rig.
