So how many will be buying Vista? |
|
|
I've been reading a lot of reviews about how its over hyped and doesn't bring anything new to the table besides DX10. IMO, thats 100% true. Therefore, I won't be buying it until there is a steady stream of DX10 games (that will actually be good) being released on the market. I've also been reading that games originally designed for XP will actually have some sort of minor lag on systems running Vista - yes, lag. That means all the people who went and blew their money away on the uber powerful 8800 will not be able to experience the full power of the card until the video card manufacturers come out with drivers that better support XP games.

I'm actually getting ready to install it at work. It'll give me time to work out the kinks and get used to it before I plunk the coin and pick up a copy for home.
It's only logical to give drivers a chance to mature if you're a gamer. I'm sure you've all seen the reviews by now. 10-15% performance loss on average in Vista right now with games.

Got my one copy at the launch event, and the 10 copies of business in the mail today. Added to the fact a business in town wants us to put in a bid to setup Vista and Exchange 2007 on like 30-40 machines.
So, I have to deal with all this new crap sooner or later anyway.

Non-vista compliant?
The min specs for vista is something like 512 MB of ram, 1.6 GHZ cpu...
If you don't have drivers to back a good video card up, it's basically a paper weight, correct? People from NVidia just said last week that they still have work to do if they want to get the full power of the 8800 out in games for vista.

Dude, you're on drugs. These tests were on 100% TOP OF THE LINE PC's... I can assure you there was NO non compliance.
Are you going to make my lazy ass go find the articles? I will if you insist, I'm just lazy.

yes... go find the article, then convert it to PDF, print out 3 copies, scan each one in to your computer, and choose the best images that show the whole article. THEN... post the scans here, and I might get around to reading them.
ahhhhahahahahahahahaha!!!!
ok, the articles i've seen have referenced that performance percentage loss running C2D cpu's and top end DX9 cards.
I haven't seen an article showing a comparison of a DX-10 compliant system running benchmarks in WinXP vs Vista.

I hate you for making me back track.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the 8800 is DX10 compliant right?
Surely you're smart enough to understand that the drivers are going to take time to fully mature right?

Rule # 623243891 of computing
- Never buy an OS a few weeks after its release. Any new OS will take weeks if not months to iron out bugs, driver support etc
So I will maybe get it when there is no other option or it comes down A LOT in price.

This happened with XP I remember. Everyone rushes out and gets it and I remember knowing people having no printer support, no driver support for most hardware in fact.

I'll have is shortly. We have a site license that allows employees to have a copy for their home computer if they use that computer for anything related to work. It will be business - enterprise, not ultimate tho.
