SYDNEY (AFP) - Santas in Australia's largest city have been told not to use Father Christmas's traditional "ho ho ho" greeting because it may be offensive to women, it was reported Thursday.
Sydney's Santa Clauses have instead been instructed to say "ha ha ha" instead, the Daily Telegraph reported.
One disgruntled Santa told the newspaper a recruitment firm warned him not to use "ho ho ho" because it could frighten children and was too close to "ho", a US slang term for prostitute.
"Gimme a break," said Julie Gale, who runs the campaign against sexualising children called Kids Free 2B Kids.
"We are talking about little kids who do not understand that "ho, ho, ho" has any other connotation and nor should they," she told the Telegraph.
"Leave Santa alone."
A local spokesman for the US-based Westaff recruitment firm said it was "misleading" to say the company had banned Santa's traditional greeting and it was being left up to the discretion of the individual Santa himself.

I was just about to get on here and post the same thread. How freakin ridiculous can this junk get? It's not like Santa rolls up in a pimp mobile instead of a slay. Jeez. Give me a break.

I don't promote the Santa deal to my kids....well they are all grown up now but when kids we didn't do the Santa deal all that much but this "politically correct" stuff of "jeez, don't sneeze, it may offend someone" is TOTALLY out of control!!!!
When I was a kid we sang Christmas carols in school, even songs that mentioned the "Baby Jesus" (God forbid that happens today...Oh crap, I just said "God"!!), we played traditional songs like "O Holy Night", "Silent Night", "What Child Is This?" in band and we also called it "Christmas Vacation" and not some lame "Holiday Break" but even through all that we grew up to be functioning adults, amazing huh?
I mean how is it possible that kids of my generation were not traumatized because we had to sing songs that spoke of the birth of Jesus at the time we celebrate His birth or people in stores always said to us, "Merry Christmas!"?? How is that possible?
It's no longer a "Christmas" tree but now it's best, for all people, if we call it a "Holiday" tree or a "Family" tree. Don't wish people a "Merry" anything, they may get offended. Who are these people that come up with this garbage? They don;t want this stuff forced down their throats and they make sure we know that because they force down the throat of the majority their ideals.
Stupid stuff like this gets me boiling mad really quick. I can't believe we have city councils discussing how to make Christmas "all inclusive".
MERRY CHRISTMAS! I'm going to say it to everyone I meet this year and I'll see how many people it "offends"

I agree Dellis. Here's a quick story:
Last year I went to a "Christmas Show" at one of the local High Schools. Our baby sitter was singing in it, so we took the kids. The first song was "Santa Clause is Coming to Town"; second was "The Most Wonderful Time of the Year"; and the third was a Jewish song I had never heard of. I don't know what came next because I got up and left.
What kind of idiot puts on a CHRISTMAS show that refuses to sing any CHRISTMAS songs? Are we that pathetic?
An early MERRY CHRISTMAS to all and to all a good night.

The Mancow Show, a syndicated radio show was talked about that this morning. He was going off about it. Next thing you know we won't be able to buy a hoe at the garden center. Because it might be mistaken for prostitution!

All of John Wayne's movies will have to be edited and redubbed. We can't have a man saying "Forward Hooooo!"

OK, serious question here. Just who are these people? I mean what demographic of humans do these people make up?
I have yet to meet ANYONE who has been offended by "Merry Christmas". Even my Jewish clients tell me to have a Merry Christmas, I know many atheists that love the holidays and also love the traditional Christmas songs, heck some of them go caroling and sing those songs. Many atheists tell me those songs bring them comfort and childhood memories.
So again, just who in the heck are these people that bring this fooling crap up?

The poeple who are offended by Christmas stuff, are generally what is reffered to as the "moral majority"... The sad part is that in almost all cases, the "moral majority" is really nothing more than a very loud mouthed minority... And if that statement or my mention of Christmas offends you, too bad...

People looking for attention. What better way to get it than open your mouth against something extremely ridiculous that it will make national headlines. They are nothing more than attention whores!

you can be an atheist or humanist and still enjoy the season. it's about giving and making others happy for the sole purpose of making them happy.
I don't believe in the jiggery-pokery religious stuff, but in a free society it is damnable to censor harmless things because a fraction of a percentage of a minority is offended.
ri-damned-diculous.
