Tornado in Jackson, TN |
|
|
As some of you now I live in Knoxville, TN, BUT I was born and lived in Jackson, TN. It was recently hit HARD AGAIN by tornados. My family and friends are all okay, but the city is bad off. A big university there, Union University, was especially hit hard. Two lives were lost in all of this destruction. I've included a link to the local newspaper, Jackson Sun, and the photo gallery. The Walgreen's in the picture I used to shop in all the time. The Regions bank is where I banked. And the street Tallequah (sp?) is where my dad used to live. Please pray for the people in Jackson that was affected by this storm.

Amazingly enough, this storm split around our city and hit north in Tennessee and around mid Alabama. I feel really blessed that nothing more than a little wind and rain hit us. We've been keeping up with the news about all the injuries and destruction. The tornado actually stayed on the ground for roughly 16 miles in Moulton.
There was also an amazing story of a family's house being picked up by the tornado, spun around, and sat back down with the back door facing the front yard. He said when they got out of their closet, everything was backwards and he couldn't figure out why until he went outside.
It is truly amazing what the power of weather can do.
