If you have more than one computer hooked up to a router and you are trying to get on the same game, here is how you fix it. Thank Gomer for this one. He is my hero!!!
1st. Right click on your shortcut icon to COD2 or COD4 on the desktop and go to Properties
2nd. In the Shortcut tab there is a TARGET BOX with "C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\iw3mp.exe"
typed in. AFTER AFTER AFTER the exe" hit the space button and type
+set net_port 28961
MAKE SURE you have a space after the quotation marks on exe" and a space after set and a space after port
This should help out anyone that gets duplicate ip issues or if 2 ppl can't play at the same time on COD 2 or COD 4. It works the same both ways. Like I said b4, thank gomer for figuring this out. GF and myself had this problem and he helped us for about an hour one night. I'm just the messenger!!!!  Sorry took a few days Stranger.
