constant connection interruptions |
|
|
been happening all day. pissing me off, too because it happened 3 or 4 times while I was having the best ratios ever... like +8/1
anyway, went on a different server (13|clan) and was doing fine (55/6 dammit) till the last 3 minutes of the round, then C/I'd.
the other problem is that after getting a C/I, I can't rejoin the map until after the game has been completely exited from for several minutes.
tried:
-running lagometer in game... not a blip until crash
-updating PB
-refreshing Modem (20mb Cable)
-checking for background programs
-reinstalling CoD4 and repatching
-spyware sweeping
-coming back a few hours later
-calling ISP
-cursing the gods
net speed from Eastern PA to L.A.?
thoroughly perplexed.

just hopped on our empty server.... waited around for 14 minutes. everything was fine (if a bit lonely) until another player joined. as soon as he joined, I got disconnected.

Hmmmm I posted that half asleep. But if its any consolation I trawled through the main server logs which is no mean feat.Punkbuster is not kicking you or anything just timed out. so it does look like a connection problem on one of your hops.Maybe try doing a trace route next time it happens .I know when I have problems like that, mine is normally a very high ping at one of the planets routers.

but i balance it out by touching myself in the day time.
seriously, can't even get one solid round in. 3 days now.
tried other servers.
ISP detects no problems on either my or their end.
i've done everything possible, googled my eyes out, and nothing
checked that connection attempts and con timeout are set to max... checked PB allowance in regedit, windows firewall, modem ports... everything but reinstalling windows.
If I can't get it fixed, I'm pulling the plug. so sick of this.

I know you are good at PC stuff, so forgive me if this is asking he obvious, but have you tried taking your router out of the mix and connecting directly to the cable modem?

Perhaps it is a conflict with your ethernet/chipset drivers since any recent updates of other things like windows etc. Depending on your chipset.... try loading them again or rolling back. If your chipset is nVidia, the latest might have an issue... try a newer release at guru3d.com or something.

current physical connection goes: PC (via ethernet cable)-->Modem(via coax cable)-->Wall jack
system drivers are all current, modem firmware is auto-updated nightly as needed and is current per the ISP.
a hole is starting to develop in my desk where I've been pounding my forehead into it.
