Need advice from you gamers please.. |
|
|
Well the boy turns 7 in a couple of weeks and he's been asking for a PS2 for a long time now. I guess I'll get him one since the DS sits collecting dust now.
I was thinking of going down the street to a Game Stop store. They have them pretty cheap - I supposed they are used. Anyone ever buy one there? Should I be shopping at another store? What other accessories do I need to get - such as another controller, etc.
Thanks!
Pitt

Rock band or guitar hero. Actually any of the pixar movie games will be good for him. I recommend taking him to the gamestop with you and letting him pick the game. Stick around the used games section, so you'll save a few bucks. On the accesories part, definitely a memory card. Another controller isn't really needed unless you wanna play with him. Gamestop is pretty good when it comes to used consoles.

I'd like to mess around with him or one of his friends for sure. I'll pick up a memory card too - what is that? Are they all the same size? I plan on having him peruse the used section - others have recommended this as well.
Thanks for the advice guys.

Walmart is selling the PS2 for $120-$130....is that too much $$?
then check local pawn shops and such for memory cards and games.

They're a bunch of different sizes. Not sure on the sizes, but try and find a decent sized one. I don't think he'll be playing a lot of games where you need so much space, but just in case.

I would definately get at least two memory cards for it and consider a wireless controller.

Pardon my stupidity but what is the purpose of a memory card? Doesn't the console run the game? Or does it act similar to the memory in a computer?
BS - $130 is OK, but I'm going to look at all possible outlets. I'll check the local Crap-Mart too - thanks.
So it looks like a couple of decent sized memory cards, controllers [wireless sounds OK], the console itself, and some used games that he can select. Anything else?
Again - thanks for the solid advice Bro's

Pitthunter-
What is your kid getting you?
I don't mind spending big bucks for my kids games as long as I'm getting something in return.
My son was the slowest eater in the world. It would take him an hour and a half, to eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. There was no changing it.
He loves playing Nintendo. So began telling him, he could play for an hour starting from the time my wife put his dinner down on the a table. The longer it took him to eat, the less play time he got. Problem fixed!
When my son wanted an Xbox 360. so I told him I wanted to see him on the "High Honor Roll" 93+ average for 1 year, first.
He did it, and has been on it for 3 years now, with no effort from me.
Some people see these games as things that make kids dumb and lazy, But they can be used to teach kids some valuable life's lessons. Witch way your kid turns out is up to you.
Good luck,
Mr.POW, out
