web design i made |
|
|
well, this is the very first web design I have done....my friend wanted something for his family to post pics, news, events, etc....a family blog so to speak. The Tartan (plaid) is from his family lineage and he wanted it used somewhere, so i incorporated it as best as i could. Also, he wanted his family crest on there as well, so i added it too. It is still a work in progress, but tHis will or should give you a general idea of what he was looking for.
What do you all think?

Looks pretty nice. Just be sure to use CSS only (no old school html tables, frames, fonts, .gifs for spacing etc.) so you learn the right way going in and don't have to break a lot of bad habits later on. Create CSS style sheets and only use CSS for positioning, colors, fonts etc.

Oh my...
Start here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cascading_Style_Sheets
Then use Google to find some good CSS tutorials.
http://www.w3schools.com/css/
http://www.html.net/tutorials/css/introduction.asp
http://www.echoecho.com/css.htm
and about a million others.
CSS is critical to coding web pages that will display correctly in different browsers (IE, Firefox, Safari on the MAC, Opera etc.) and if you are going to go to the trouble to learn web development (whether just for fun or maybe to make a few bucks or even a job later on), you really should start out on the right foot. All that old TABLE, FRAMESET, FONT, COLOR, and such is dead as the passenger pigeon)
There is a learning curve if you have already picked up bad habits just whacking together some HTML code for a web page, but it's worth the effort to do it right. Once you get the hang of it you will never go back.
