I couldn't find some good quality oak furniture that didn't cost about $2,000 per piece. So I decided to make my own. I started with a corner TV/Stereo stand for our bedroom and a short book shelf for the sunroom.

Both pieces are almost done. The book shelf will have a large door on both ends and the TV stand will have two doors on the bottom compartment.

TV stand is 100% solid oak. Book shelf is all oak except for 3/8" oak plywood in back. Both are very solid.

I just put the filler on all the nail holes and joints. I then sprayed all surfaces with water. Tommorow I will start the finishing sanding and then stain and polyurethane. The stain will be medium oak. Similiar to how it looks in the wet areas in the pics.

These are a gift of love to my wonderful wife. I hope she will like them.

Nice work, SD! I've been wanting to get some custom bookshelves built for my library, if only you lived closer. Sad

Thanks for the kind words everyone!

I stained them today and will polyurathane them in the next couple of days.

Then I will post some pics of the final product.

It looks like the two projects will have taken me about 70 working hours from start to finish.
1 hour to design in IronCAD
67 hours to build and stain
about two hours are left to polyurethane, light sanding, and polyurethane again.

Then a lifetime to enjoy! Cool They are very solid and should last a long time. Well worth the effort.
