They do tend to leapfrog each other, but it does look like AMD-ATI has the current lead in Video, and Intel over AMD in CPU chips. Look around in 3-6 months and it may be reversed... Wink

I wish they would just quit holding back and milking these things for all they can get.

Just start production on some serious cards with modern technology and sell them at reasonable prices. How about dual or quad core 3 GHz processors, 2 - 4 Gb of ram and all on one card.

600 MHz processors, 512 MB of ram, single core processors, and all for a ridiculus price! What a joke! And SLI, what a rip! I have SLI, but there is no reason why this same performance cannot be achieved with one card. I feel like I should be making MOO sounds every time I buy a new video card.

Okay I'm sure there are some things that are causing limitations, but there's no doubt that the card manufacturers are holding back and making a killing on $$$$.

Just my humble not in the know opinion. Wink

Right you are... but the technology and research has to be paid for somehow... so some milking is needed. Its like me and buying into comcast cable... I know much higher speeds are available, especially in other countries... and they are milking it like mad. Thank god they ditched the cap they put on uploading a little bit, but not all the way... it still throttles down to keep their networks software from crashing like it is more so now. But in the US, there are greater numbers of people over greater spans of land mass.

I am not one to buy the best of the best vid cards... and never would I ever buy into SLI... was against it from the start. I am happy with my 8600GTS currently... may not get a newer card for another year or two... and I'll only pay what I did for it... around $150-$200.

So these new generations of cards should be about that price in a little over a year.
