Some historical stuff for Double D |

I have been here this afternoon to inspect a property for some work we need to do.These cottages were built in 1716.
Now in the garden is Beauchief Abbey they started to build this in 1176 and parts of it and the graveyard are still standing.
That's the end of today's history lesson.

Nice pics Ren. You're lucky to live around so much history that dates back as far as it does.
Here, in SW Pennsylvania, our claim to fame is when 23 year old George Washington fought with the British [in the French and Indian War] in the 1750's. They tried, and were unsuccessful, in taking Fort Duquesne [later to be named Fort Pitt] where Pittsburgh stands today. Washington was aid-de-camp to General Braddock, who died in the battle.
Before that - nothing.
