Damnit. Why can't they make a good Multiplayer!
I'll probably get this just for the eye candy alone.

I was thinking of getting this one on console also. Maybe I'll use my PS3 for something.

There is a multiplayer .As for the single player. It has now been stated and claimed by Ubisoft that the game will near approximately 100+ hours of gameplay.
Multiplayer classes.
Commando - "Mid-range assault class. Effective at fire-and-movement tactics."
Sharpshooter - "Long-range specialist. Armed with highly accurate weapons." (Scope noob camper class to spoil the game)
Guerrilla - "Short-range class. Specializes in close combat and ambush tactics."
Rebel - "Specialist in explosives and fire. Strong on offense or defense."
Gunner - "Heavy firepower specialist. Highly effective from static firing positions."
Saboteur - "Equipped with silenced weapons. Specializes in stealth tactics."

Playing it now (PC). Looks pretty good, the graphics are really nice. They are much the same as Far Cry and Crysis.
Probably the only complaints I have right now is that you can't "toggle" using the sights on the gun, but have to hold down the right mouse button to sight, and then at the same time click the left mouse button to fire. Really a clumsy setup, wish they had included a "toggle sights" like COD did. You can remap the "iron sight" button to something else, but no way to "toggle" it.
Second, you can "sprint" by using the left-shift key, but you can't remap this key, so you just have to get used to it. I know that is the default key on COD as well, but I remap it to ALT as it is more comfortable for me. Oh well.
Haven't tried the multiplayer yet... It does install Punkbuster when you set up the game.
So it's all good, more control over the key mapping would be nice, but the graphics are great and on my computer at least (AMD 64X2 3.0ghz nVidia 8800gt) it plays really smooth with settings at high quality.

Installation didn't take too long. I run the game and it automatically set everything to Very High at 1360x768 which surprised me as I was expecting 800x600 all on low for it to run at a decent framerate.
I started a new game and chose the first of eight playable characters. Loading times were not that bad in fairness. Game starts with you in a jeep with an African cab driver driving you to your hotel in the town. Along the way you get pulled over by militia, see a few forest fires, all things to show off the visuals really. He explains what's causing the war etc and all of a sudden you go all crazy due to malaria you've caught.
Graphically the game is great but not as good as I expected. Crysis has far better visuals but the difference here is that it runs a LOT better. I did raise the resolution to match my monitors native setting (1440x900) and put a few settings to medium, a few on high and a few on Very High and I'm pulling around 30-40fps constantly. But don't even try to run it in DirectX10, even if your card supports it. It just kills the framerate by half.
The weapons sound great. And the Flamethrower is awesome. You set a tree on fire and it will soon spread over the area, burning grass and other surroundings which you are SUPPOSED to use for tactical strategies but I have a feeling it's just for show. As for the story, it seems a little confusing and weak at the moment but hopefully pulls together, I'm not far enough in to say yet. Voice acting is a little weak I thought and it's kinda hard to understand what the characters are saying as they say things very fast. Explains why subtitles are on by default.
One thing I HAVE noticed is that there seems to be a lot of driving. You ARE in Africa though, beats walking I suppose. I do like the idea that before you go to sleep, you can set a timer so you can wake up in the middle of the night to do your mission, or do it in the day. There seems to be a fair ammount of freedom. Apparently, if you save loads of people, these people will help you out and give tips, unlock weapons and all that.
I did find myself a bit lost after wondering aimlessly through the jungles until I realized pressing 5 brings up a map. Doh. The map displays things such as ammo crates, health boxes etc. And by the way, you have to heal yourself manually. You press H and you'll see him look down, put his finger in the bullet wound, pull the bullet out and wrap a bandage around his arm. It's pretty cool. You also get a phone which is used to give you new objectives etc.
Not tried multiplayer unfortunatly.
I'm not really that far in to judge it too much but so far I'd have to say it's worth getting if you are looking for a decent shooter. Apart from the visuals it doesn't seem THAT groundbreaking to be honest. But if you're buying it for just multiplayer, it might pay to wait a while or check out videos and see if you think you'll like it. Don't even think about buying it if your machine is even JUST over the minimum requirements, it's not worth it. You'll have to turn off so many effects it would just make it look bad to be honest. And we know how unreliable system requirements are nowadays. It's kinda pot luck.
I mean, if you have an nVidia card in the 8800 series you'll be good to go. Anythign less I'd be hesitant. ATi cards I am not sure what is the 'in' card at the moment. I'm running it on an 8800GTS 320mb card and it seems pretty cool so far.
