I have my gotten the following ...with help from all you very smart people out there.

(1) 9800 gts vid card (already had)
500gb WD Blue (already had)

I need to buy window 7 and ram. also tryin to decide on a wireless keyboard and mouse but not worried about that. My question is 2 part. 1st. Ive been searching for ram for a week now so much my head hurts. Ive been to gigabyte website and does really give to much info. New egg suggests corasair cmp46x3m21600c7 they are 2x2 gb sticks my question is can i get a similar ram but 2x4gb sticks. also would 2x2 be enough or is 2x4 better. my other quest is about window 7 should i get OEM for 99.99 or buy the retail for 199.99 ive read some stuff that says the oem is a 1 time install only and if you change something like the motherboard you have to pay extra to install again. after i get these last to things ill start the build. I'm excited but terrified since its my first build.

I've never heard of only installing once for OEM versions. As for RAM, I've always been partial to CorsairXMS, and yes you can find them in 2x4gb varieties. More ram is always good, but unless you are running CAD, Photoshopping, or Video editing programs, anything after 4gb you start to get diminishing returns. Meaning, the move from 4 to 6gb yields less then a 10-15% performance boost. Cost/Performance, I look at that since I'm always on a budget for that stuff. Though if it's in the budget more is better, and you won't ever have to really worry about adding more.

Oh, and just fyi:
Your 9800 does have life left, but you may be looking to upgrade by the end of the year depending on games you're playing. This article was a decent read and speaks specifically to the 9800.

I also am a big fan of Corsair memory, and agree that 4 Gb is plenty.
Go to and click on the link on top of the page “Learn & Explore”, and choose “Memory Finder”.
This will allow you to put in your motherboard info and get a working match.

I used to run corsair until I had a technical glitch when I bought a new mobo and had to switch to OCZ both have always run great for me. 4 gigs is more then enough, i'm running 6 gigs at 1600 mhz and for the gaming aspect I can tell no difference between 4 and 6. save the bucks and go with 4
