As a lot of you know I'm a huge fan of the original Planetside which was a $15 a month to play. But Planetside 2 is going to be Free To Play when it launches. You can get a free Beta Key in the April Issue of PC Gamer. Which allows you to play the beta version of PS2 in the coming weeks or months. SOE is being very quiet on launch date. But with this game Free to play I think we all should take a good look on this game. This might be the next game everyone has been waiting for. I'm very excited about it, I just wish they would hurry up and get the beta up and going, been waiting for almost 3 years for this game when I first got the email asking what I would like to see different from the first PS. I hope everyone checks it out... The best thing about this game is there isnt any time limit in the game its a constant fight, Battlefield and CoD are great games and love em but when you get x amount of time in each map when the battles are really getting good then its over kind of suck but its still fun.. This game the battle is constant until you are totally wiped off the cont. and the battles can be HOURS :D... hope to see you all in the game....

So how does this game work? Is it roleplay, is it FPS, combination ???? Can you just get in there and shoot people?

I'm not fully sure what PS2 is going to be but if its like the first then you have BEP (Battle exp) SEP (Support exp) Assists and CEP (Command exp) CEP for the commanders and get to use nifty items heheh. You objective is to capture all the bases on a cont to claim it yours. There are 3 Factions TR VS and NC. You have ATV's, Tanks, Transport Busses, Aircraft,Transport Aircraft, Assault Vehicals Mech type Robots, Power armor suits known as Max Units which have 3 different type of attack, Anti-Air, Anti-Vehical and Anti-Personail. Each time you rank up (Level Up) you are awarded Cert points, your different weapons and vehicals count towards your Cert points. You can group up into a 10 man ground called a Squad but then you can combine 2 more squards to make a full platoon (30 Players) which I have lead maaaaaaaaaaaaaany platoons in planetside. Just the down fall why a lot of people didnt play the first one was it costs $15 usd a month.. But the new one has much better graphics, and its going to be free to play from what i have read. Now I beleive they are going to have a different set up on the Cert points though, they are going to make it a tree setup but its pretty much the same concept in the first one. In the first PS you could hit Esc then I, that would take you to a instant action (right to a battle to win or lose) or you get a vehical, run, ete to a battle. In the first Planetside, I ran a full platoon to protect one base, we had about 200 people on our team protecting this base from the other two factions, we did get takin out but that battle lasted for more then a day. The first PS had 300vs300vs300 people (900 peeps compaired to Cod and BattleField 32 peeps or 64 peeps) per Cont. But This new game PS2 is suppost to have something like 1000vs1000vs1000 people (3000 OMG Huge battles)

Across the continents of Auraxis, thousands of players will come together in enormous battles to win control of critical territories and key resources for their empire. With a an extensive skill tree and free-form class-based system, players will be able to customize their soldier, weapons and vehicles to match their play-style, as well as the needs of their squad, outfit or empire. Battles can last for days or weeks, so players will need to build alliances and specialized combat outfits to take on long-term strategic and tactical initiatives. With air and ground combat, the battles will be larger and more intense than ever.

Key Features:
MASSIVE WARFARE: Battles will take place not between dozens of troops, but hundreds; with air and ground vehicles slugging it out alongside squads of troops. Whether in open fields, tightly-packed urban centers or enormous structures, winning will require strategic teamwork and a quick trigger finger in the massive battles.

THREE EMPIRES: Players will have their choice to join three different empires:

Terran Republic – With a militaristic government, the Terran Republic uses its Imperial authoritarian might to impel humanity to peaceful coexistence through any means necessary.

New Conglomerate – A loosely connected group of rebel factions and idealistic freedom fighters, the New Conglomerate fights against the hegemony of the Terran.

Vanu Sovereignty – A technocratic faction that believes humanity can only evolve by rediscovering and tapping the lost technology of the Vanu.

BATTLE FOR TERRITORIES & RESOURCES: The core gameplay of PlanetSide 2 is about holding key territories and controlling valuable resources. Each battleground holds valuable resources and key positions, and the empire that can conquer (and manage to hold) these territories will be rewarded with fuel bonuses, ammo bonuses, tech bonuses, and more. Persistence: In Planetside 2 battles will last longer than a match timer. Battles will last for days or weeks, and finally taking control of the base means it’s yours until someone can take it back. Working strategically as a team to capture key tactical positions such as power plants and ammo depots will have long-lasting effects that can shift the tide of battle.

ENORMOUS MAPS: PlanetSide 2 will launch with several continent maps; every inch of which will be contestable space. With the new territorial control meta-game, landmass will have intrinsic value even without notable installations or major features.

FREE-FORM CLASS-BASED SYSTEM: Players will be able to unlock diverse combat roles by advancing through the skill tree, including several classic roles from PlanetSide. As players unlock new roles, they will be able to switch between them at will.

MISSION SYSTEM: Both SOE and players will be able to drive content, easing new players into the game and allowing veterans to feed content to players.

SKILL TREES: Players will be able to build their soldier to match their play-style, or to match the needs of their squad, outfit or empire. Each combat role, vehicle and weapon will have extensive skill trees. These cert trees will allow players to grow characters laterally, unlocking weapons, attachments, equipment, specialized skills, and more.

OUTFITS: Outfits (guilds) will also be able to customize themselves – allowing outfits to have their own identity, reputation and role in the ongoing war.

WEAPONS: Players will be able to access more than 20 basic weapons, which can be customized to players’ preference or purpose.

VEHICLES: More than 10 vehicles with two unique vehicles per empire. Players will be able to customize each vehicle, unlocking new skills and features Vivox Integration: Players will be able to communicate with their squads both through keyboard and voice chat.
