When I first installed the game and went to launch it for the first time, it went into an update mode.
After updating, I tried to launch the game the second time and then I keep getting this same error.
I click on the game launch and after a few seconds I get this message.

Here's what I have tried:
1. Made sure firewall is not blocking the executable.
2. Manually updated Punkbuster, even though it was showing it already had the newest version.
3. Registered the game at Electronic Arts.
4. Did a reinstall, and got the same situation again.
5. Searched the internet and found others with the same issue, but no fixes.

If I don't get this figured out soon, I will give up on this game.
Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Try going in to the Electronic arts folder on your C drive or whatever, and manually run the BFBC2 updater. Its worth a shot, as is turning off your antivirus and see if that does not like the programme though that is unusual.

Try this website I think I saw one in there that was similar to yours for errors.

http://www.gamebrood.com/2010/03/04/bat ... and-fixes/

Or this one from the EA forums for BFBC2

http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/posts/list/422900.page

That's the closest thing I could find for it

Turning off antivirus made no difference, and the updater gives me the same error.

The only thing that seemed worth trying was the port opening in my router, but I had already done that. So no luck with that either.

Any more ideas because I am done looking?

Update your firmware in your router if it already isnt up to day then redo the port forwarding other than that try manually fixing the windows firewall or whatever firewall to let it thru.

You should shoot Dellis a PM or try and contact him. He was able to connect, but had bad lag hick-ups. He said he changed his connection config and he can run the game with no hick-ups. Maybe he can help you out, because it seems like this has something to do with your connection configuration. That's all I know.

Kinda stupid that the message can't narrow down the error a little more. :?
