Thanks for these. I don't know if any of them will help. My main concern isn't so much with lag, however, it's just performance. Once I get the performance issue out of the way, I'll worry about the lag... This isn't right, I'm rolling a GeForce GTX 260, I should be running this game clean with settings on full, and I have to play it on normal settings? I played the SP again last night on low-end settings, things choppy when the action starts. It seems as though my computer, despite having the game on low-demanding settings, is still being burned out of resources quick. I was playing the first level, making your way through the street, when we made it about a block down, everything suddenly started turning yellow, and my game froze.

I'm also getting these "Direct X encountered an unrecoverable error" and "app failed to initiate properly (0x0000012d)" that kicks me right out of the game. I'm able to play for about ten minutes of MP before that error kicks me out, the same for zombies. SP, however, kicks me out in just moments of game play. I'm thinking these may be on my end, so if anyone has any tips on how to fix this problem, let me know, please.

Try this.

Go to C:|Program Files|Steam|steamapps|common|call of duty black ops|Redist DirectX and run DXSETUP.

anyone having issues with trying to bump your FPS? I seem to be stuck at 60 frames. I did the typical "com_maxfps 120 and every other number I could think of but this just puts my words into the chat window and does nothing.. any suggestions?

well hey figured out why it was just going into the chat. and have made some changes. although still when I adjust the fps I have absolutely no impact on it. i'm completely stuck at 60 fps help!! lol.
oh yes and I found this handy dandy tweek site they do a good job of explaining what each one does. i'v done a few and plan on implementing most of these once I get the fps thing figured out.

ah ha finally figured it out. "sync every frame" must be disabled for the com_maxfps feature to work. I'm happily running 150+ frames now and it's MUCH smoother!
