A Medal of Honor was presented today to Staff Sergeant Salvatore Giunta, who is the first living recipient since Vietnam.

Thanks for posting this, i have had a friend who died over there, and my cousin is serving his 3rd tour right now, in Shal valley Kandahar.
He seems very humble, he wants the award for his platoon not himself

That is the face and the voice of a man who seeks only to serve and support his nation, his family, and his comrades. What a shame that such courage and humility are abused by a government that seems to think of those soldiers as mere pawns in a larger political game. I am always struck by the humility of our warriors. They do not seek accolades or their name in lights. They seek only to do their duty, as they understand it. They care more for the guy in the foxhole next to them then they do for themselves. As one who enjoys reading and learning about military history I have often wondered, "What would I do in such a situation?" Would I run? Would I cower? Would I step up and do my duty? I honestly cannot answer that question from the comfort of my home in Midlothian, VA. I can only hope that were I ever to face similar circumstances that I would have the courage to meet that danger with the same elan and resolve that Staff Sergeant Salvatore Giunta showed. Here's to all of our heroes who wear the uniforms of the United States armed forces.
