Post subject:  Spammers - No, real spammers
We have been getting hit pretty regularly by automated "spambots" that register, hoping to spam the forums with ads for viagra and mushy peas. These automated bots are not much of a problem, as the forums require an email verification process and this seems to stop them in their tracks. They remain as "inactive" and we clear them out from time to time.

However, there are also some companies who employ humans to go around to forums and blogs and post spam. These folks can't really be stopped by an automated process, we have just been deleting their posts and banning them. It is getting to be a hassle though. There are quite a few of them.

We have put in place a new procedure that we hope will discourage these poltroons. From now on, when a new user posts their FIRST message, it will go into a "Moderation Queue" and will require "approval" by a moderator (either the topic moderators or Ren or I) Once their first post is approved, they can post freely from then on. If however the post is "Great deals on land in Mexico" then we can just delete the user without having to do a lot of cleanup.

This will not effect any current users and you will see no difference in anything.

I was gonna call them "reprobates", but I was afraid it wasn't a word people used all the time and understood like "poltroon"... ;-)
