Ron Pauls A Revolution - A Manifesto is one of the best books I have ever read. Yes it justified a lot of my own beliefs I have developed over the years as a near 30 year old in my generation, the x generation.

I have always been a republican and registered as a republican... and I have grown up, and lived in a very democratic state (Oregon). There is sheep, and there is man. Man with ideas, leadership, and great insight. Or those that follow others that have developed the idea that all and only them see those qualities in people that lack them greatly, but show something different.

Ron Pauls book is not biased in any way, and really brings a lot of history from our founding fathers back into play. Ideals, and great facts of how things work, and why things don't work. He is a true conservative in my eyes, and the only one in the current race to the American brothel.

Even if you are set in your vote, cant bend an inch... think Paul is a liberal jelly bean... read the book, you will be impressed and enlightened.

It bleeds common sense.

--------------------------------

Many may have read this book back in High School or earlier on... I picked it up again now as an adult to better capture its basis.

A Brave New World by Aldous Huxley

It's a very interesting book and really opens the eyes that it was written so long ago by a very strange dude. But it makes one think, and think critically. A very good read, one of my most favorite books.

--------

Next I will be reading Winterkill... don't know its nature because I have never read it, but my brother in-law recommended it to me.

Even if you don't read his book, you should note that Ron Paul, and now Bob Barr, are the only presidential candidates who are talking about the Constitution and LIMITED GOVERNMENT! That should get your attention of nothing else does.

You boys are crazy. The president has zero power. Everyone is all focused on the head when its the body the creates and passes laws. I have yet to see any candidate worthy of running this country.
Do yourselves a favor and vote for whoever is not in office. it doesnt make a difference who just vote for the other guy. then four years later do it again. Eventually we will get rid of the dead wood that has infested our government for way to long.

Im quite aware of that fact... although if you read the book, you would understand that presidents are unconstitutionally bypassing congress to achieve their goals. I understand politics quite well, and no where did I mention any trade-offs of power etc. The president has a lot more ability over power than you can fathom.

As a student of history, and now enrolled in college, working on a B.A. in history and poli/sci, I, too, am aware of the role of the president in our republican form of government.

I am also aware, as Morg states, that far too many presidents have subverted the constitution for their own ends, with the ignorant support of politicians and citizens. I am also aware that as president, a man has a bully pulpit from which to lead and influence others. If those in Congress are already leaning to the left (socialism), and along comes one of their own, who will bow to their will, then we are in deep doo-doo.

I just hope that before I pass from this earthly veil, I will be able to cast a vote for a presidential candidate who truly understands the meaning of LIMITED GOVERNMENT and is willing to subbordinate his personal desires in order to do what is right for the nation, according to our founding documents and especially the Constituiton.

SIC SEMPER TYRANNIS!

Good luck with that cynic. Razz These people are so corrupt that'll never happen.
How about abolishing all PAC's and lobbyists as a start? That alone will allow our statesmen to put us, the constitution, and our national interests first - before bowing down before the alter of the NRA, AIPAC, and the AARP.
