|
|
I got a new video card....wohooo, but i'm having issues.....craaaap!
It works fine until i start COD2. The menu in cod my curser has 3 arrows 1 normal size, 1 little smaller amd one smaller yet. Game runs ok but when I stand oversomeone to p/u a dropped gun it does the samething with the guns. It seems to do it on a couple of pictures on the menu in cod also, but works fine on everything else. I donwloaded the drivers on it. COD lokkes better with this card but these issues are driving me nuts. I was gonna do a screen shot but I'm a noob and don't know how . I know how to post pic can figure out how to get screen shot

Press the F12 key and it will take a screen shot. Then you have to go to your Activision\COD2\main\screenshots folder to get the shots for posting. I'm fairly sure of the file path.

After you reinstall it, if it still doesn't work, take the card back to where you got it and get your money back. If the card has conflicts like that, with the best game in the whole damn world, don't waste any more time with it.

If you have not done a clean install of cod. I would try First remove your old nvidia drivers for a start. Then set cod back to default settings and see what happens.

That would be my guess as well, that there is an old version of the COD2 config file around that is causing COD2 to use settings for his old card. A clean install of COD2 might not be needed, but do at least delete the players directory and let the game set up a new profile the next time it is run.

I believe his old card was an X700 (ATI) and his new card is a 2600 (ATI). But the idea of being sure all old drivers were uninstalled correctly is a good place to start.

Look at the pick up gun on 1st pic and by the totals on the top left
On the 2nd pic see the messed up sysmbol by the snipped person name and the american flag in top left and the crosshairs. I'm sooooooooooo confussed
Also I Just downloaded and ran driver sweeper and it lists and gives me a choice...Im also not having sound work right either.
AGEIA - Physx
ATI - Display
Creative - Sound
Microsoft - mouse
NVIDIA - Chipset
NVIDIA - Display
Realtek - Sound
I went from X700 series video card to ASUS AH 2600

Im guessing that is just stuff they havent fixed, or problems they created with later drivers... possibly an older driver will correct the problem.

On drive sweeper it shows nvidia display and ati display.... and realtek sound and ac97 sound( See Previosu Post)
The sound I had is Creative ac97 and I have never had a nvidia sound card the old one was a radeon x700 series and this one is a radeon ah2600 pro could that be the problem.
On sound when I go and change the sound back to ac97 I get sound but when it goes to realtek I loose it.
And lastley where did the nvidia and realtek come from?
Any help would be appreciated

Realtek are the makers of the driver for the ac97 sound chip.
Driver cleaner is giving you the option to remove whatever driver you have installed thats all.

As Ren said, the program offers to remove a bunch of stuff, most of which you don't have. Just select all the nVidia display stuff and let it remove that.
