Yesterday I visited one of the best preserved remnants of the over 3000 miles long Atlantikwall (Atlantic Wall): Domain Raversijde near Oostende on the North Sea coast of Belgium. Raversijde has more than sixty bunkers and trenches, looking exactly as over sixty years ago. Many dioramas and an impressive collection of genuine German WWII weapons, like MG 42's, MP 40's, Kar's, Lugers, 75 mm anti tanks guns, 20 mm FLAK and 40 mm FLAK.

More on this can be read here: http://users.pandora.be/alex.deseyne/ENG/AtlantikwallE.htm

I went with two former colleagues of mine: Harold and Erwin. We share an interest in WWII and regularly visit sites that played a role in that war. Last year we went to the Airborne Museum in Oosterhout near Arnhem to see where the battle for the bridge of Arnhem took place.

Here are some pics of yesterdays trip to Belgium:

Want some pics of that park? I can do that. Doetinchem is only two hours from where I live and I am in that area every now and then!

Thanks Cynic! The dioramas were behind thick glass shields, so not a chance of taking them! Wink I'd love to have one myself, as well as one MP40!

Not a problem. Consider it done! Give me a week or two, ok? Anything particular you want to see?

Thank you Tasha! It was a great trip! You can almost feel what it must have been like back in the days.

Hey ummm, I kinda noticed that those flak cannons aren't behind any glass... I could really use one of those, preferably the bigger one... That way the next time some childish moron goes driving through my neighborhood with his stereo blasting that bass crap, I can really make his car rattle... Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad
