New paint job and car repair. |
|
|
As some of you know, early this year I hit three deer at one time with my Subaru Outback.
It was a wednesday night and I had just dropped of some children that I brought to church with us.
I was in a 55 mph zone and seen a large group of deer ahead on right side of road.
I slowed down to 30 mph.
As I approached, I pointed and told my daughter to look at how many deer were beside us.
In that brief moment, three deer came from the left and as I looked forward, I hit them all.
Since I was not moving very fast, I was able to stop quickly and did minor damage.
Damaged: Hood, Grill, Headlights, Fog Lights, Bumper, Right Turn Light, Right Fender, and Passenger Door.
After this I learned that I had mistakenly not gotten Comprehensive.
The best quote was for over $2400.
The car is older (98') and has 200,000 miles so I didn't want to put that much into repair.
Luckily I have a friend that has a custom paint shop and he asked to do it.
Cost was about 1/3 of the best previous price.
He didn't do a show job finish like his normal work, but did a great job for an older car at a low cost.
I wanted it cheap with no extra effort.
I just feel car is not worth too much $ or effort.
He never uses stickers, every thing is always painted.
Check out his website: http://zebuluncustomfinishes.com/
If you look at photo gallery, click on the air plane - it is awesome!
Eagle needs a plane like it.
Byrl recently had a car that made it into the hot wheels calender and came in second place for the chance to become an actual hot wheels toy.
Hot Wheels stated that they might still use it, so look for the Mantis if it makes it.
He did a small sample of his custom painting on the hood/scoop at no extra cost.
He also painted the circumference of the grill.
I like it!
Damage:
Here's the new repair.
Still needs the grill center emblem, it's on order.
Ignore the spots, I rinsed the car off and left it at that.

That is a very creative solution and came out good. Great tires you have there also. Would love to have BF Goodrich's one day.

NICE! I like it. Not blaring, and adds a nice *flare* to the car.

I have put BF Goodrich Radial TA's on every car I have ever owned.
I always put wider and taller than stock tires.
Reasonable price, good traction, long lasting, and very smooth riding.
I also like the raised white lettering.
I use to own a 1984 Cutlass Supreme back in high school.
I pulled the v6 and dropped in a 425 rocket V8.
I had BF Goodrich Radial TA's in 15" 295/50's on the back of that car and 15" 245/60's in the front.
Them tires took a lickin and kept on grippin!
I'll dig up some pics and post them of the Cutlass.
