I think this is a great idea! Thanks cynic!

I just finished reading : John Adams by David McCullough
Girls Like Us by Sheila Weller ( about Carole King, Joni Mitchell and Carly SImon

At the moment I am reading Empire Falls by Richard Russo..its a novel but it won a Pulitzer.

Did you watch the 7-part John Adams series that was on recently based on this book? It was really good.

Eagle

Yes I did ...it was very well done I thought . Took me a while to get used to the actor they cast as Adams. For some reason I kept expecting him to do comedy. Razz

He certainly wasn't the "leading man" type, but then if you look at contemporary portraits of Adams, he was in fact no "leading man" type himself... Wink

That is true..in fact I think his wife was the brains of the operation. At least, she surely influenced his life in a positive way ....wonder if in real life she was a nag? Smile

I usually am put off when a "history" gets all politically correct and revisionist and all of a sudden Attila the Hun's wife was the power behind the throne, but in this case I think it was very accurate. Abigale Adams was well known even her day as a smart cookie and someone that Adams listened to.

I mostly listen to audiobooks because I am on the road so much. I have listened to all of the James Patterson's Alex Cross series, except his most recent one. I like Dean Koontz's, Odd Thomas books. They are a great read. When I actually read a book, I like to read WWII books. I recently finished the book Flags of our Fathers. I am surrounded by books everyday since I do tech work in 64 libraries in East TN. I have about 5-6 library cards...LOL!

A couple I've read recently have been Pat Buchanan's State of Emergency that outlines [in his eyes] the effects of illegal immigration on the US; The Israel Lobby and US Foreign Policy by John Mearsheimer and Stephen Walt that paints a somewhat bleak picture of our relationship with Israel and specifically the influence of Israel's AIPAC Lobby. I just finished The Reagan Diaries and enjoyed it a great deal. He was the one that said "a country that can't defend it's boarders isn't really a county any longer."

Next up is Alan Greenspan's The Age of Turbulence. I suppose I'm in a political mood since we have an important election coming up.

I am reading a book by Arthur Herman called " Gandhi & Churchill" It sounds really dry and boring but it is a fascinating read about two very fascinating men. It deals with how both men led their nations through a pivotal time in history.

It's hard to soar like an eagle when you're surrounded by turkeys.

I spilled spot remover on my dog. He's gone now.
