Terror of the Streets (Studdogs High School Ride) |

|
Here's some pics of my car I had in High School.
It was a 1984 Olds Cutlass Supreme
I pulled out the 231 V6.
Dropped in a 425 cubic inch Olds Rocket Big Block V8.
Here's a few of the specs:
10.75 to 1 Compression
Oversized Valves
Mild Cam
Edelbrock Intake Manifold
750 Holley Double Pumper Carb with oversized pumps and cams
HEI Distributor
Accel Ignition Coil
High Performance Ignition Module
Solid Motor Mounts
350 Turbo Hydromatic with shift kit and shift point kit
15" x 6" Aluminum Wheels in front
245/60 BF Goodrich Radial TA's in front
15" x 10" Aluminum Wheels in rear
295/50 BF Goodrich Radial TA's in rear
Dual high performance exhaust
and a few other minor adjustments here and there
At any speed 57 mph and under, if I floored the gas pedal it would smoke the tires.
I am from the class of 1989, which did not see many big block engines.
I was the only one that had a big block in my area as far as teens go.
Everyone else had 305 to 350 type of engines.
I did know of a few older people that had big blocks.
I would race anyone as long as they didn't have nitrous or drag slicks.
Needless to say, I won many a street race with the car.
Not saying it was the baddest car in town, but very quick for a teenager.
And a blast to drive!
Sometimes I really miss the car, but I don't miss the gas mileage.

Smart move pulling the 231. Not only were they weak on power. The external oil pump design would give you a loss of oil pressure at start up. I personally think it was a crap design. Also the 305 would twist cams in them another crap motor. I owned a 72 Olds Cutlass with almost the same setup you had running.

Nice, my first car was a '76 Plymouth Valiant /6 lowered..
Then I picked up my '73 Dodge Dart Swinger /6 which I still own today. Will build a new /6 with a 4-barrel setup, 60's vintage Offenhauser Aluminum Intake Manifold etc. I will be building it from scratch. Pre 72' block, Forged crank, bored, balanced... roller everything, street cam, Ceramic headers etc. Will sound like an airplane when i'm done with it
I also owned a '74 Lincoln Mark IV 460 cid 4-barrel, stage-2 shift kit... the tires would chirp every gear. It was candy apple red, black leather, lowered, dual exaust... wire wheels etc... too bad it was a POS. I ened up donating it to http://www.protect-the-kids.org/
I owned a '76 Toyota pickup... awsome for a $400 truck lol
Now I just bought a brand new '08 Hyundai Accent. Great mileage, and gutless. But my Dart is still my fun car.
I had a 440 for the dart, but decided to sell it. Still have the 727 trans though that I plan to customize.
