You are making me wonder if I should have installed Vista 64bit instead of XP 64bit!

I have been very happy with my XP and just never felt like changing as of yet.

I do have newer hardware: Striker II Formula MB, 4GB Corsiar 1066 ram, Extreme CPU, 9800 GX2, ect... and to make it sound even dumber: I have about a dozen copies of Vista Business 32 and 64 bit that I have never used. Embarassed

Maybe I need to think about changing sometime soon. At least I could enjoy the DX 10.

installed it yesterday , no problem at all !
loadup takes a bit longer , think that is because i have a dualboot now (i kept xp , just to jump back to xp if there were problems)
will format both disks in a few weeks if it keeps working without problems
it will always take a little bit of time to get used to a new OS , but it looks great.

only a little trouble to set up vent , sound settings are different as what i was used to in xp.

Everytime I take a Computer Graphics Technology class I get offered all kinds of free software from Purdue. I have always taken all of the Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office programs. I usually don't take anything else. Even though they are free, I don't use or know what any of the other stuff is. All software is FULL versions. I have been getting and using these for the past eight years.

Here's a list of the free programs I can get:

I also get software from ITAP at Purdue at very low prices. Again I tend to buy all the Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office programs and leave the others. I have more copies of XP Pro 32/64 bit and Vista Business 32/64 bit than I will ever use. I only keep four to five PC’s at home. Currently they all have Windows XP Pro with one at 64 bit. I’ll make the move to Vista one of these days.

I wish someone had a copy or two of Microsoft Office Pro 2007 that they wanted to trade for something. Hint Hint Wink

Here’s the list of Software I can get at ITAP, it’s not free like the others but is reasonably priced.

I can only 32bit for the Vista Ultimate.

The only 64 bit I have is XP Pro and Vista Business.

Is the business Vista 64 full install, or upgrade??? I ask because I found out that if you have a 32 bit OS (regardless of version), you cannot "upgrade" to 64-bit... You have to do a full install...

Eagle U might be right BUT...

when I updated my wife's puter with Vista Mad with SP1 it craped it out and gave the "BLACK" screen of death immediately! Evil or Very Mad It took me OVER 4 hrs Sat to restore that piece of shita! Evil or Very Mad

We have 3 GB's of mem and are running a Duo 2 Core 2.2mhz and it's so s-l-o-w it's not funny! It takes f-o-r-e-v-e-r.... to load that resource hog! Mad

Yes I will NOT ever put vista shita on MY puter but she is stuck with it! (I may in fact wipe her's and install XP!)

Thanks for listening to my rant, I do fell a little better! Evil or Very Mad

I think that is because they have to match on service packs to be able to overwrite. Then you can upgrade to 64 bit from a 32 bit.

The Business 64 bit is full and not upgrade.

Bummer that you had all the hassles with your wife's laptop. Vista should run really well on the hardware you describe. Runs really nice on Little Eagle's laptop, which isn't even a good as your wife's.
