In Central Ohio gas jumped from $3.49 to $3.99, and its getting a little to cold for the motorcycle ride to work in the A.M.

Grover its never to cold to ride. To slick maybe but never to cold. Just dress in layers and get some gauntlets for cold weather riding.

I was up your way a couple of weeks ago. Ever heard of Carson-Newman? |
Yep, in Jefferson City. I watched that game on TV, well part of it. I was looking for some LUNAtic t-shirts!

They zoomed on my dad and me a few times. I was sporting the LUNATICS shirt. There's nothing like seeing #3 and #4 in the nation duking it out. If I would have thought about it, I would have told you we were coming up your way. We'll be heading out to West Georgia next week.
Maybe we can get some Titans tickets sometime and meet up in Nashville.

-40f nothing... I'll be garaging my bike before it even gets down to +40f here... Layers don't really help all that much when your body has almost no natural insulation to begin with...

I can only speak to -20. I have been on a motorcycle in Virginia when it was -20. Thank god for not having a fairing.
Riding in the cold is like riding in the rain. You must keep your hands and feet and neck warm at all times. You must block the wind from your upper body using a non air penetrating fabric. Legs is up to the individual. I dont mind if my legs get cold. If you do these simple things riding in the cold is no problem.
Now -40 is a different story. Oil starts to gel and other bad things happen to mechanical parts. If machinery doenst want to work then neither do I. Thats the nice thing about living in Southern California. The coldest it gets is just below freezing up in the mountains. Yes we get snow not far from the house. We have 9,000 mountains within an hour of the house. Its pretty amazing to start at 60 degrees go up to 80 then down to the desert where its 100 and back to 60 in just about a 4 hour round trip.

Carson-Newman, Yes I have, I played against them in college. My university was a Div 2 school back then, now they are IAA.
Gas here in So. California, I am paying $3.77 a gallon for premium, we were at $4.98 a few months ago.
