Free online Paintshop clones... |
If you are not at your own computer, or don't have Photoshop, or do photo manipulation so seldom you don't want to install software, you might look at some of the free online "photoshop clones" popping up on the net. The are not anywhere as full featured as Photoshop of course, but they get pretty close. They have the familiar Photoshop layout, support layers, and let you do most of the basic editing you need.
Here are two I have messed with. Each one has slightly different features, but both are pretty decent for basic stuff. They both let you load and save images from your hard drive or from a url. (so you can point to a url for a photo on photobucket, edit it, and save it to your hard drive.)

Both are really easy to use. The biggest differences were in the features supported. For instance, Pixlr has the "clone tool" which is something I use all the time, but strangely has no ability to resize (transform) a layer, only the whole document. Sumo has the ability to resize layers, but no clone tool. Both are fine for simple editing, but neither replaces Photoshop.
