Damn you, just in before I posted
This is ridiclous. It's not even as if it's a hotfix. It's a whopping 300mb monster patch!
Call of Duty: World at War v1.1 Patch:
* Mods are now enabled in Co-op, Single Player, and Multiplayer.
* Players will now be notified when a new patch is available.
* Improvements for SLI support.
* G_Spawn: no free entities crash has been fixed.
* Server no longer runs out of script variables.
* License key is no longer required to run a Dedicated Server.
* A Dedicated Server can now be started from the Command Line via Remote Desktop Connection.
* Various fixes in Server Browser.
* Players will no longer see multiple friend invites from the same friends.
* When a player calls in a recon plane in a Hardcore match, the HUD will properly appear.
* Clan Tags will now display in game where appropriate.
* Map holes fixed
* Spawn improvements and weapon balancing
* remote desktop now works with dedicated servers
The fact that it fixes the g_spawn error shows that the Beta was a waste of time and they clearly didn't listen to PC feedback.

I'm glad they did it this way. Doing a public wide beta and then issuing a patch the same day as the game to address issues found in the beta. Since the game has been in the distribution pipeline for weeks, this is better than making us wait for the game while they fixed bugs found in the beta I guess.

I think they had a deadline, released the game as it is. I think the game game was already is mass production before the beta was even released for PC.

Unfortunately, that's the case with most PC games these days

That's my point. The had a deadline. They could have skipped the beta, released the game, and issued a patch in December or January to fix problems (with the understanding that people would be pissed at the bugs) or do what they did. Get the game in the pipeline, roll out a public beta, get feedback, make the fixes and have a patch ready the same day the game releases. Works for me.

Yay installing the game pretty quick....I can't believe they actually had it here at Wal-mart...small town.
Though I felt nerdy just buying the game....so had to do some shopping.

Ok guy/girls need some help... downloaded patch for COD5 (1.0.1017) and installed and now I get this error message-
"Can not connect to online server" for account data. Before I patched I could connect with no problem.
HELP...

Yep. I'm now having the same problem. Just started. I think the master server is hosed...
I hope this isn't a sign of things to come.

Nothing to do with the patch, I was on just a while ago with the patched version, but now nobody can get online. You can play the single player, but can't get online.
