Something I posted in regards to a story that was on the local TV news website here. Any thoughts or comments are welcome, but if you want to bash me, get in the game saturday nights and then get in line...
This is interesting. When Ronald Reagan was elected, we got to hear all of the "Old White Guy In The White House" jokes. When both Jimmie Carter and the most recent George Bush were elected (not sure how the first George Bush missed out on this one) we got to hear all the "Rednecks In The White House" jokes. Now that Barak Obama has been elected, we are hearing the "Black Man In The White House" jokes. And suddenly it's racist? Why, because he's black? Get realistic here people. Racial jokes are everywhere. There are jokes about whites, blacks, mexicans, asians, europeans, and on and on and on. There are also many racist organizations doing everything they can to influence society and law makers alike. They include (but are in no way limited to) KKK, NAACP, CAA, FAA, JACL, KAC and LULAC (white, black, chinese, japanese, korean and mexican, in order). Yes, by deinition, these are ALL racist groups, and yet they all have their supporters and detracters. I personally think they should all be banned. Chris Rock is one of my favorite comedians. George Carlin was another. Both became very famous for their stand-up comedy. I wonder how far Mr. Carlin's career would have gone if he had been telling the same jokes that Mr. Rock tells. I'm going to guess that his career would have ended long before he ever found fame. And that's pretty sad. They're just jokes. Laugh at them and get over yourself.
