Having a problem with CoD5. The game starts normally, but when I attempt to join a server I get the Microsoft error message that cod has 'encountered a problem and needs to close'. Once I select 'don't send error report' the Windows box error comes up 'Unhandled exception caught' and that's all she wrote.
Any suggestions?

That is a sound driver issue. Others have had it too. Only suggestion I can make is to completely uninstall your sound card / chip drivers, then reinstall them from scratch (newest ones available if they aren't already).

It started working again guys - thanks for the advice. I don't know why or what happened.

when it happened yesterday ,
have you tryd rebooting you're pc and start the game again ?
or only restarting the game ?

I re-booted my comp as it was frozen HV. Strange.
