Thanks all. You guys have no idea how much I appreciate you all. I will do whatever I can to complete the run.

I think it was Dick Vermeil that said "If you don't invest very much, then defeat doesn't hurt very much and winning is not very exciting." I think I am going to try to live by this statement today.

10K you are right. I am pretty sure that 90% of going to the gym is walking through the door.

Todays goals for me are to

1. Finish the race without walking
2. Finish in under 1 hour
3. Try to beat #2 and finish the run in 45 minutes or less
4. Enjoy myself and the moment and take it all in.

Thanks again all. I will post later today about it I hope my wife will take a couple of pics.

John

I did pretty well. I ran the entire course in 45:04. I could have done better, but there were so many people running that it caused a delay for me to start. The pack started and I didn't move for about 20 seconds and then it took off a bit slow. I think there was over 2000 runners/walkers. I think I ended up finishing around 600. No big deal. I am very happy with what I did today. Thanks for all of the kind words of support. It was VERY much appreciated. As requested by Bogey, here are a couple of pics...God help me...

Here is me probably at my heaviest. My guess is that I was getting close to 300 pounds. The pic was taken by Gargaz at the NFL Football hall of Fame. Incog is on the left and Pimp is in the middle. I am on the right. This is the first of 2 pics that were taken. I believe we were laughing when Gaz took this. The lighting isn't quite as good in the 2nd. I believe this was taken in early August of 2005. I started hitting the gym Jan 2 of 2006.

Before @ 287+ pounds

This is me today May 28. This was taken after I had just run 4.4 miles. The picture was taken by my wife. There are a couple of other pics, but this is one will probably be the best for difference purposes.
*****
After @ 199 pounds even

Simply Amazing! It's the incredible shrinking man! Great job! I hope you count yourself beating your 3rd goal due to the waiting period.
