Any 1 here familiar with this programming language ?

I'm teaching myself and I'm using a simple compiler for now.

Just asking in case I hit a few snags along the way.

Why am I doing it. To develop better maps. Cool

The visual stuff is easy its the scripting part that makes it more interactive.

Hey Grimm, I know a little and have some resources. I'll try to help if you have any snags. I'm sure somebody around here is a whiz, just offering help if needed.

Hey,

Check out this website.

http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/

It is a free copy of all the visual studio products from Microsoft.

Microsoft decided to put out their 2005 express studio for free.

I program using Visual Basic and Web Development, however C++ isn't too far off of Visual Basic either.

If I were you, I would at least download the Visual C++ which is a nice interface with the compiler.

Let me know what you think!

I believe that is a compiler as well. I know the VB side compiles, shows errors, has Intelisense, so that when you start typing something it will give you options to choose from like if a variable exist, or a method etc.

So it is pretty helpful. It will show you errors while your coding as well, so no need to compile it and figure out what you did wrong, so as you go debugging is very helpful.

I know i love it cause it underlines things with a color such as a misspelled word, so you know the context is wrong.

If I were you I'd try it out. Its free, so what more can you ask for. If you don't like it you can always uninstall it!

I've played with the entire express studio from MS (VBasic, VC++, VC#, and SQL program suite). I love them all. THey make life a lot easier. Just my opinion.

I used to write C++ stuff back in college. I actually had to write a UNIX shell using some low level functions. It was pretty cool. I don't remember that much, but I may be able to help.

I also wrote in
TKL/TK
Java
C
Assembly
LISP

probably a few others.
