I don't have my new mouse yet, but I have noticed this before with different ones I have had before. (I do have a mouse and headset collection going......)

Once in awhile when I am playing any game, my mouse will lock up and then I hear beeping or bells. I have messed with the mouse settings and can't fix it...need help please? Smile Lately it has been happening every few minutes.

(I don't nothing about computers....) Wink Confused Evil or Very Mad

You might want to see where you're plugging your mouse into. I had a very laggy mouse for a long time and then I realized that I had it plugged in with an extension. It was much faster and more responsive when I changed it over to a USB port.

That may not be your problem, but you could check it out anyway.

Hmmm. Have you always made sure your drivers are up to date for that particular mouse?

I think the mouse locking up might not be a mouse problem at all.Just a side effect of the system crashing I am usually wrong lol, what type of mouse is it though ?

I've seen computers do this when the registry gets messed up. The fix I went with was to format and reinstall everything. Hope this isn't what you have to do. It is easy, but not if you don't have much experience with doing it.

If possible, you could try to restore to a point when the mouse worked good.

The reason that it locking up is because it catches on fire from all of your horde killing on WoW Laughing Laughing And the beeping is your smoke alarm. jk Wink

Someone has to kill them... Rolling Eyes Wink Twisted Evil

I really hope I don't have to do a reinstall. Confused My PC has been crashing a lot, probably should.

Ren - I have no idea what kind of mouse i have, it is Logitech and red. Smile

I also had issues with my sound also, it would keep going back to the lowest volume.

Guess I should reinstall.... Sad

I would suggest a thorough scan of your hard drive. If you are having multiple crashes it could cause issues with it (HD) and could have bad sectors. And if it is going bad, then it could save you from having to reinstall again in the near future.

In the start > run > type in chkdsk it will do a preliminary scan fo your HD and alert you of any errors. You can also do this for start up goto start> programs > Dos prompt type in chkdsk/F the F may vary depending on your hd but it will tell you

You can also go to windows explorer.
Right click on the drive to check and select properties.
Click "Tools" tab
Under error checking select check now.

This will scan the harddrive for errors.
If you have errors, I would suggest getting a new harddrive in the near future. If there are none, then again I would lean toward it possible being a registry issue.

You might try removing your mouse in device manager.
Turn off PC.
Then remove the USB mouse and attach a PS/2 mouse.
Restart PC.
After PC is up and running again remove mouse in device manager.
Turn PC off.
Then remove the PS/2 mouse and attach the USB mouse again.
This sometimes helps with driver or registry issues.
