cmos wrote: | ...like the video game industry is heading for another crash? I have noticed that none of the games coming out are really all that interesting. Yes, there are some "good" games out there, but as a whole the industry seems rather dull. I have heard lots of chatter of late about how there are no good games out. I hear a lot of this system sux, that systems sux, they should have done it that way, they should have done it this way, etc... I read an article about the EA CEO stating that the game developers were boring people to death. I think he may be on track. I even heard that E3 was pretty damn dull. It seems to me like there is no more ingenuity in the gaming world. All games seems like they are built on a previous idea or ripped from another game. Nothing appears to be really fresh and new. There are some games coming out later this year that are being heavily marketed. Really, they are the same old thing in a new package. Sure the graphics will be fantasic, but will that make them fun? I don't know what is going to happen, but it sure seems like 1983/1984 all over again. |
mos, I must say I strongly disagree with your opinion on the gaming industry crashing. Later this year, there will be tons of games coming out. Assassin's Creed, SC:Conviction, Too Human, CoD 4, GW:EotN (PC only), and a ton of others. In my opinion, this year of games for consoles is the best in a long time. The innovation in some of the games is amazing--who would have thought of social stealth?--and I think gaming is going in the right direction. While there are a lot of games that are half-made, rushed, and just crap, if you look at the great games, and look at the innovations in them, you'll see that the pros out-weigh the cons.

yeah I remember the days when it was so busy there were hidden slots on the cod servers, and you needed a password to log on, those servers used to be packed all day long.

true, that... and sad. | not trying step on peoples toes but we dont have the group feeling anymore server 3 folks stick to their server as do server 1 folks. I have been the only member on server 1 most of the time trying to get it populated again but it takes a group to be affective dont get me wrong i know people are busy family/life are more important.`

The upgrade crap is just that CRAP, MS pushing us into vista only games, because of dx10, would of been nice to run it under XP, at that point its only a video card, now most folks need a new PC. I built mine with the intent of upgrading to vista, but not yet, no way in hell. They have figured out how to run vista games on xp, ill stay right were im at.
Cmos cheer up bro, i have been gaming for thirty years myself and am also 37, remeber the c64 and 128 how much fun they were. We arent seeing the leeps that we saw from the nintendo sys to the sega to the ps1 on so fourth. Game companies i beleive are trying, but are really being pushed back for systems, which system to put it out for etc. The call of duty community was built by us pc folks, and should die with us as well, but they left us with a two year old peice of sh**. Linear needs to go, stalker was close, but did quit hit the mark. Its coming just wait a little bit. Some of this stuff is going to be fun.

I got on server 1 a couple of days ago and got my arse handed to me. I felt like I was running in quicksand. I'm pretty sure that smokey replaced my bullets with blanks as well. Numerous times I was in a fire fight and saw my bullets hitting him, he'd just look at me and smile.

but, i did manage a 78/14 round on farm2 today. after only four games total since i installed CoD2 on this PC a few days ago.
