UZA server |

I know UZA is going to make a server or some servers for CoD4
and if you do all customs for it, how long do you think it will take for the server to come up?

that depends on a few things:
activision needs to release the software for map builders... this took a long time with CoD2.
We need to get a feel for how many people are going to be playing... you may want to mention to regular players that we are going to most likely have CoD4 on one server, and regulars should start posting in the forums here to show their support for CoD4 (or not)
Also, servers ain't free, so it's going to be a question of "how many servers of what game"... I highly doubt CoD2 will go away.

If the past is anything to go by, I'd expect us to have a server up and running the default maps the same day the game is released if not soon there after.

I am already watching for threads on how to admin a COD4 server. I can't imagine why we wouldn't have one up the day it's released. We have plenty of resources on the server box, with a couple of COD2 instances that can be sacrificed if need be. Server 2 and the Rifles only instances could be shut down if COD4 needs a lot of resources, so I doubt that the new game is going to have enough impact to cost us more money or require a change in hardware.

| I'm assuming COD4 is coming out on PC? Let's hope Infinity Ward don't screw this up like they did with COD2 and COD3. It made no sense to go from having vehicles in UO to no vehicles in COD2. Don't get me wrong, COD2 is great, but it was a step back without vehicles and no cooked nades. Then, no PC action for COD3. Another major mishap. I'll have to wait to see how they do with COD4 given their increasing bad track record. Hoping for the best since COD2 is dying down lately.

If it is anything like like COD2, it will still be popular with the servers. Can't always be the same as the last game or it wouldn't be interesting. If you are gonna wait for someone to tell you about the game after it's already out, you may be a very lonely person my friend. It's not how the game is, it's how you play it. Just have fun with it for how it is. That's all we can do. Just my opinion.

COD4 is being put out by Infinity Ward, the original makers of the COD line, so it should have a better game feel and interaction, much like UO.
Also I'm sure we'll have a COD4 server plus one or two running a mod, much like Dupont did with COD2 and server 3. I absolutely hated COD2 when it came out but now found I really like it and prefer it over UO at the present moment.
Really looking forward to COD4 though and hope it is everything PLUS what the reviews say about it.

I really think CoD4 is going to be good if not the best in the series. I am pretty excited about this game. Maybe more so than UT3.
